  1. I think Vista was great, but Leander is still my best of show so far.
  2. Holy crap, Cedar Ridge blew me away. (obviously biased as an alumni but y'know let me be proud of my old program)
  3. Super excited for tomorrow! It's been a while since I've been able to watch marching band of any kind in person! DCI Round Rock was an awesome return, and I'm stoked that the kids get to march again, and from what I've seen online, show design hasn't missed a step at my favorite programs!
  4. Not sure if this has been posted here yet, but Hendrickson: The Arch (at least that's what the announcer said in the YouTube video)
  5. Oh wow, I had missed that CTJ was participating this year! What stacked contest!
  6. I know it's obviously because of the repertoire overlap, but Brandeis' opener is reminding me of Cedar Ridge 2013, and it makes me happy.
  7. https://marching.musicforall.org/2021/09/18/boa-update-mcallen-texas/ Looks like prelims has been paused due to heat conditions.
  8. The audio is fairly decent in this stream, but I feel like I'm having trouble hearing soloists from time to time.
  9. This might be a dumb question, but is there any kind of ticket bundle where I'd be able to just pay once and get a ticket for both days of prelims and then finals? I seem to remember doing that in 2019, but maybe I'm misremembering.
  10. In a more positive comment on Stony Point, their uniform game is always on point. Their previous Black and Gold/Yellow uniforms were some of favorites for a long time, and their new Yellow and Blue ones are super striking! I'm happy for them to see them opening up BOA Austin this year, after two years of waiting, I'm betting the kids are eager to perform, even if it's early!
  11. Pretty stoked to see such positive early reception to my old program in Cedar Ridge! I just hope they can keep the momentum to BOA Austin and beyond and not stagnate. CR has been through quite a lot in terms of instability, with 4 head director changes in the 11 years the school has been open, and somewhere around 8 director changes in general, so it makes me excited to see them continue to do well even after ANOTHER head director change this year.
  12. I believe RRISD's Festival of Bands was tonight? I may be mistaken however.
  13. And should you be willing to share the wealth, my inbox is open as well...
  14. Got to see Cedar Ridge's production, while they're definitely marching one of the smallest bands they've had, the ensemble sound and volume is excellent, and the show design feels a lot more similar to Cedar Ridge of the past vs their 2019 program which felt a little uncharacteristic to me. I definitely think they're going to maintain a 6-8 placement at this contest, but then again I'm not a prophet and I could be dead wrong. (edit: also I I think Cedar Park is sounding really really good from that YouTube video)
  15. Although their mid-season results can be a bit hit or miss I'd consider Bowie in this too!
  16. Honestly, I was shocked they didn't make it last year. I thought they sounded and looked great.
  17. I've heard that Cedar Ridge had an ensemble receive an invite!
  18. That reminds me of Cedar Ridge 2017! I had a blast marching that show and I bet the kids in this program are gonna have a great time too! New York is a great concept with a lot of fun stuff to work with.
  19. I know a lot of stuff seems up in the air right now with the current state of the world, but I thought I may as well copy over this info from the Hornrank forums! Currently Registered BandsCedar Ridge* Cedar Park Dripping Springs Hendrickson Jack C. Hays John B. Alexander John Paul Stevens Louis D. Brandeis New Braunfels Pflugerville Ronald Reagan Rouse Sandra Day O' Connor Vandegrift Weiss Winston Churchill*runs event and will likely be exhibition
  20. I doubt it, as an alumni, we just knew it as a curse of being Cedar Ridge
  21. I can imagine! I've been in the same position before, and it's nerve-wracking, no matter how confident I felt in my prior run, that time where I'd wait to hear my band's name get called for finals was always filled with panic.
  22. Man, they kept those Hebron kids on the edge of their seats!
  23. "A scheduling conflict with the San Antonio Alamodome that will put the DCI Southwestern Championship on hiatus in 2020, will create the opportunity for Drum Corps International to stage more events in the state of Texas than ever before." DCI Denton Thursday, July 16 Apogee Stadium at the University of North Texas | Denton, TX DCI Austin presented by FloMarching Thursday, July 16 Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex | Austin, TX DCI Katy presented by Band Shoppe Friday, July 17 Legacy Stadium | Katy, TX DCI San Antonio presented by Fred J. Miller, Inc. Saturday, July 18 D.W. Rutledge Stadium at Judson High School | San Antonio, TX DCI Corpus Christi presented by Fred J. Miller, Inc. Saturday, July 18 Wildcat Stadium at Calallen High School | Corpus Christi, TX DCI Mesquite presented by The U.S. Marine Drum & Bugle Corps Monday, July 20 Mesquite Memorial Stadium | Mesquite, TX DCI McKinney Tuesday, July 21 McKinney ISD Stadium | McKinney, TX The big thing of note here is that the Southwestern Championship has been put in hiatus temporarily. The return to Kelly Reeves is gonna be good news for a lot of fans, myself included, but I'm gonna miss the Alamodome next year.

  25. Panel 2 Music Ensemble seems to skew significantly lower than Panel 1 Music Ensemble in prelims. At least from what I saw.
