  1. Best run I've seen from Westwood all season, but still confused on the decision to play narration during the band announcement, it makes it hard to decipher either one. But still great run from Westwood and 100% in contention for a finals spot!
  2. As an alumni of RRISD, I'm so proud of all of the showings from them so far! From Round Rock High School with probably the most challenging and entertaining show I've seen from them in a hot minute, to Cedar Ridge with my person favorite performance of the day (totally unbiased), to McNeil with potentially the best band I've ever seen from them! They've bumped up their volume so much, and I couldn't be happier for them.
  3. If Rouse and Leander are being considered as locks, I'd definitely put Woodlands and Cedar Ridge up there.
  4. Heartbroken. Entirely forgot to include Coppell in my predictions. 😔 I'm so excited for a year where 3 RRISD bands are looking so strong coming into the end of the season! And the Deep in the Heart of Texas bit CTJ added is gonna be great in Indy!
  5. That's what I'm saying haha https://www.smbc.uiltexas.org/area/results/files/area-21_6A Area D.pdf I believe this should be the link!
  6. Full results with points 1. Claudia Taylor Johnson - 10 2. Ronald Reagan - 14 3. Cedar Ridge - 15 4. Round Rock - 18 5. Westwood - 22 6. Hays - 33 7. Smithson Valley - 39 8. Churchill - 40 9. McNeil - 42 10. New Braunfels - 43 Some really interesting stuff in the recap, like Reagan getting 4th across the board in music, but 1st in Visual. There also seems to be a music judge that wasn't a fan of Cedar Ridge's execution in prelims and finals, but another judge had them in first. Not as all over the place as some UIL results tend to be, but still interesting.
  7. State qualifiers in placement order. 1. Claudia Taylor Johnson 2. Ronald Reagan 3. Cedar Ridge 4. Round Rock 5. Westwood
  8. Dang, I'm sad about how much CTJ has to cut for UIL.
  9. I know that when I was in band a few years ago, at Area we'd find out our prelims ranking pretty soon after prelims announcements. But again, I'll add that since I heard it from students it could be iffy information.
  10. Not sure on the validity, as the information is coming from students, but "top three" was 1. CTJ 2. Reagan & Cedar Ridge (tied)
  11. I'm so dumb, I saw the name "Ryan Brittain" and was racking my brain as to where I had heard it. He was one of my old band directors and I somehow managed to forget that in the moment.
  12. Unbelievably disappointed to hear this. JBA was easily one of the most entertaining shows of the night, and heck even if it wasn't, NO ONE deserves that kind of treatment. Make my blood boil to know that they got away with this.
  13. 1) 90.738 - Vandegrift 2) 89.675 - Ronald Reagan 3) 89.338 - Claudia Taylor Johnson 4) 88.300 - Cedar Park 5) 86.350 - Leander 6) 85.550 - Rouse 7) 83.250 - James Bowie ?80.825 - Hendrickson 9) 79.813 - Weiss 10) 78.500 - Louis D. 14. Listen, if Vandy's new niche includes playing 2000s classics as ballads that culminate with a guard member in a spinning prop, count me in.
  15. Dang, I'm glad to see Txbands will be live blogging the event this year, but they stole my old job!

  17. Oh wow, Westlake didn't have most of these props/scrims at Austin did they? At least I don't remember them
  18. Whoa, the music in SFA's show is awesome!
  19. It's a shame about the singer's mic not working, but the snippet of Cedar Ridge's closer that they put in is super cool, really liked that woodwind ensemble layered over the first impact.
  20. Hoping for the sun to have an underdog victory and for this contest to not get rained out.
  21. 4-6 spanning across just one point is so interesting, I'm excited to see if this season stays this competitive, or if we see bands start to pull forward!
  22. Took a look at the score breakdown, and WOW that visual GE score was huge for Rouse.
  23. 7:15 p.m. – Class A Champion Exhibition: The Ann Richards School, TX 7:30 p.m. – James Bowie H.S., TX 7:45 p.m. – Westwood H.S., TX 8:00 p.m. – Leander H.S., TX 8:15 p.m. – Westlake H.S., TX 8:30 p.m. – Round Rock H.S., TX 8:45 p.m. – Weiss H.S., TX 9:00 p.m. – Rouse H.S., TX 9:15 p.m. – Vandegrift H.S., TX 9:30 p.m. – Claudia Taylor Johnson H.S., TX 9:45 p.m. – Cedar Park H.S., TX 10:00 p.m. – Cedar Ridge H.S., TX 10:15 p.m. – Vista Ridge H.S., TX 10:30 p.m. – Class AA Champion Exhibition: Princeton H.S., TX Wow! Rouse and Cedar Ridge in the top half!! There does seem to be a discrepancy between the Music for All site and social media. Ann Richards is listed as going last, with Princeton as a no show on social media, and what I just posted on their site.
  24. Agreed on that bit, it didn't really add much for me, and felt like it wasn't in line with the rhythm of the show.
