I'm still sad they ended up canceling their plans for this year. -

It isn't done yet, but I don't think I'm vibing with this year's CTJ show. Feels like it's missing some of the personality I've come to expect from their music writing. They're still some of the highest level performers around though! And they're absolutely booking it for a lot of the show, so I have to give plenty of credit for that! -

Not sure how I'm feeling about Round Rock swapping out their iconic uniforms for what I'm seeing on the sideline right now. -

Accidentally got given two strawberry lemonades at the Kettle Corn stand when I only wanted one, so if anyone is at the contest and wants a free strawberry lemonade let me know lmao -

I believe they actually got shifted down to later in the day! The BOA site has them listed for 1:15. -

Big day ahead! Very excited to see all of these students perform in person today, I hope every single one of them had a performance they're proud of, and the audience rewards them for it. It's a truly fulfilling experience getting to perform in front of a crowd that's there to appreciate the art. If you're a parent there to watch your kid today, I implore you to stick around and watch some more programs! You'll get to see some awesome performances, and be another set of hands that claps for a student whose parents couldn't make it out. -

I feel like we must have seen different performances, they're definitely a strong medalist contender at this contest. They're creating a really full field scene visually, and are putting out clean sound like no one's business, pretty early in the season. It's definitely not a 100% certain medal, but they're closer than they've ever been this year. -

I've seen some of the competition, along with Cedar Ridge and I agree with their sentiment. It's not gonna be easy, but it's a definite chance. -

Anyone else feel like it's been a lot easier this year to find early recordings of show through football streams?? I swear there weren't this many streams in past years. -

I'm genuinely excited to see how Cedar Ridge fares this year, not just at this contest, but during the season as a whole. They're coming in from their most successful season to date, with a top half placement at San Antonio, and I wonder if that success will translate here, or if we'll see their usual course of a ramp up over the season. I do also tend to wonder if their size is ever gonna be a limiting factor, but they've shown year and year again that they can push past that, even with bands that pale in comparison in size to other 6A groups. I do know they're fielding another smaller group this year, with something like 10 flutes in total, so I'm excited to see how they design around that. They're certainly challenging the students with the music this time around, and they've definitely risen to the occasion from what I saw at the parent performance! No matter what they place, I'm just happy to see my old program doing well and the students having fun. (I apologize for the ramblings of an enthusiastic alumni) -

It's also not great that they double down in the comments of the video. Might seem like a silly thing to care about but it's frustrating to see students from across different programs make fun of/insult each other in such a petty manner, especially in something as public as a YouTube title. -

There's a recording of Cedar Parks show from tonight up on YouTube. It's not the best quality, and the video has a title that seems to take a shot at Cedar Ridge for no real reason, but hey it's there if anyone wants to find it. -

Genuinely shocked to see Cedar Ridge performing in a slot that isn't in the first block. Feels like a curse has been lifted. -
Got the chance to see Cedar Ridge's preview last night! They're in a great place musically, and I'm excited to see more get added and for the technical aspects be strengthened. I'm also very happy to see how much of a "production" it is, even this early in the season. As expected, they requested no recordings uploaded, and I'll respect that, but they did give a little bit of context for the show concept, and I thought it wouldn't hurt to post it here to expand upon what we know. "Light turns to dark, today becomes yesterday. Mysterious creatures walk the earth. Strong as stone, they are the defenders of good from the evils that lie waiting. In the Midnight Hour, as the gargoyles begin their watch, a yell is heard."

This is a great idea for a thread! I was actually commissioned by my old directors at Cedar Ridge to design a band timeline for the retiring of the original uniform, so that works well for this thread! Then this for the years after! 2019: Checkmate BOA Austin - 6th BOA San Antonio - 15th 2021: Superstition BOA Austin - 6th BOA Katy - 2nd BOA San Antonio - 6th UIL State - 7th
