  1. missed the context on this one and was genuinely shocked to see language like that coming from THE LeanderMomma
  2. Anyone else feel like it's been a lot easier this year to find early recordings of show through football streams?? I swear there weren't this many streams in past years.
  3. It might be too early to make any solid calls on finalists, we haven't seen post programs perform or be placed yet, all we can do is wait till we have more information right now!
  4. The versions of the Planets we hear in the pre-show kinda remind me of the Isao Tomita renditions done on synth! I wonder if inspiration was taken from there, or if they just went for a space age style sound.
  5. I'm genuinely excited to see how Cedar Ridge fares this year, not just at this contest, but during the season as a whole. They're coming in from their most successful season to date, with a top half placement at San Antonio, and I wonder if that success will translate here, or if we'll see their usual course of a ramp up over the season. I do also tend to wonder if their size is ever gonna be a limiting factor, but they've shown year and year again that they can push past that, even with bands that pale in comparison in size to other 6A groups. I do know they're fielding another smaller group this year, with something like 10 flutes in total, so I'm excited to see how they design around that. They're certainly challenging the students with the music this time around, and they've definitely risen to the occasion from what I saw at the parent performance! No matter what they place, I'm just happy to see my old program doing well and the students having fun. (I apologize for the ramblings of an enthusiastic alumni)
  6. It's also not great that they double down in the comments of the video. Might seem like a silly thing to care about but it's frustrating to see students from across different programs make fun of/insult each other in such a petty manner, especially in something as public as a YouTube title.
  7. There's a recording of Cedar Parks show from tonight up on YouTube. It's not the best quality, and the video has a title that seems to take a shot at Cedar Ridge for no real reason, but hey it's there if anyone wants to find it.
  8. Genuinely shocked to see Cedar Ridge performing in a slot that isn't in the first block. Feels like a curse has been lifted.
  9. Got the chance to see Cedar Ridge's preview last night! They're in a great place musically, and I'm excited to see more get added and for the technical aspects be strengthened. I'm also very happy to see how much of a "production" it is, even this early in the season. As expected, they requested no recordings uploaded, and I'll respect that, but they did give a little bit of context for the show concept, and I thought it wouldn't hurt to post it here to expand upon what we know. "Light turns to dark, today becomes yesterday. Mysterious creatures walk the earth. Strong as stone, they are the defenders of good from the evils that lie waiting. In the Midnight Hour, as the gargoyles begin their watch, a yell is heard."
  10. Looks like this event is finally being streamed on FloMarching according to the TMC instagram!
  11. This is a great idea for a thread! I was actually commissioned by my old directors at Cedar Ridge to design a band timeline for the retiring of the original uniform, so that works well for this thread! Then this for the years after! 2019: Checkmate BOA Austin - 6th BOA San Antonio - 15th 2021: Superstition BOA Austin - 6th BOA Katy - 2nd BOA San Antonio - 6th UIL State - 7th

  14. Thought I'd do some calendar searching to see how the lineup for this event was shaping up. Seems like a pretty competitive lineup so far if these programs are actually all attending! The event is taking place on Oct 8th, 2022. Listed on Calendar Ronald Reagan Vandegrift Cedar Park Hendrickson Weiss James Bowie Rouse Winston Churchill Vista Ridge Westfield John B. Alexander Round Rock Cedar Ridge (Likely an exhibition, as they host the event.) Deconfirmed Samuel V. Champion (calendar says no marching contest on the 8th)

  21. Cedar Ridge returning to Grand Nats would be exciting, but I definitely think they should hold off until they've hit a consistency with the new director. There seems to be a bit of a roller-coaster when they have director changes, that eventually stabilizes out, but we also haven't seen a head director stay in the position at Cedar Ridge for more than 4 years, so we haven't even seen the band given a chance to have that stability for an extended period. I'm really hoping Dan Musacchio can stick around for a while and introduce a new level of success for the program going forward.
