  1. Finals just ended. My predictions after Cedar Park and Rouse are... CC Winn Glenn I'm probably wrong, but there it is.
  2. On the other hand, when they made the move up from 5A to 6A, they went to State to years in a row.
  3. I really like Plainview when I saw them in Midland. Very surprised by this.
  4. All this talk is already getting me excited for next year.
  5. What happens in Indy stays in Indy???
  6. Lookin' at Bush's Chicken rolls... lookin' at Big Bib BBQ... lookin' at some big juicy, delicious cherries!
  7. I think you are covering something up, Mr. Valdres. The people deserve answers!
  8. Did you invoke the five second rule? Inquiring minds want to know.
  9. 6A State was Monday-Tuesday.
  10. Is this a done deal, or is there still another step before it's decided? And when would it be implemented?
  11. Lots of bands fighting for spots 3 and 4 after Cedar Park and Rouse.
  12. Then that puts us at 34. Area A - 4 Area B - 4 Area C - 5 Area D - 3 Area E - 2 Area F - 4 Area G - 5 Area H - 4 Area I - 3
  13. If that is the case, then it WILL impact enrollment at BOA-SA. Schools not in state year classifications will opt for the shorter travel and less expensive alternative that is also tied to UIL, which brings with it a certain amount of pressure to participate. But I think most of the BOA-competitive schools will opt to compete at San Antonio.

  15. How about every band gets the same music but comes up with their own show interpretation?
  16. To be blunt, that video tells us nothing. As the poster above notes, the 8 minutes doesn't begin until the 5 minutes has expired, regardless of whether the band had begun to perform or not. I have experience operating the clock at multiple UIL marching contests. I would typically cancel the 5 minute clock a few seconds before it counted all the way down so that I could take a moment to set up the 8 minute countdown. Somebody next to me would be keeping the countdown in the booth and when the 5 minutes expired he would signal me and I would begin the 8 minute clock. It would not be at all unusual for somebody to want to take 15 or 20 seconds to do this because it can be a little unnerving trying to make sure you don't mess up the programming of the clock. The buttons on the control are not always the best. More than once I would program in my 8 minutes and the scoreboard would show 18 minutes and I would have to quickly re-program. I'm not saying that any of this happened there, but we don't see anything to tell us otherwise. We would have to see the countdown of the 5 minutes to be sure of anything.
  17. What we know so far - Please correct me or update Area A - 4 Area B - 4 Area C - 5 Area D Area E Area F - 4 Area G - 5 Area H - 4 Area I -
  18. Because I'm waiting for Area H to post their contest schedule... Region 11 Southside - 1 Legacy - 1 Kennedy - 2 C.C. Winn - 1 Memorial - 2 Southwest - 1 Harlandale - 1 Somerset - 3 Medina Valley - 1 McColum - 1 Wagner - 1 Veterans Memorial - 2 Region 29 Jefferson - 1 Harlan - 1 Lanier - 1 Tivy - 1 Brackenridge - 1 Champion - 1 Sam Houston - 2 Edison - 1 Highlands - 1 Burbank - 1 Region 32 Marble Falls - 1 Cedar Park - 1 Glenn - 1 Rouse - 1
  19. I wish Area H would post their darn schedule!
  20. That is shocking about Plainview. I really enjoyed their show in Midland.
  21. It is not difficult to imagine that the UIL would put Area contests on different weekends for State vs non-State classifications in order to spread the judging duties out. At least that could be the cover story. The real motivation would be to make bands choose between Area and San Antonio.
  22. D and G combine to paint a picture of an organization bristling against change. If they enact the annual Area contests and place them on the same weekend as BOA-S.A., that would just be sad and pathetic.
