    Human Verification

Sorry I know it’s a little annoying but we’ve had a ton of bot/spam traffic which both spammed the forums and actually is slowing down our servers, so I’ve temporarily raised the level of security to keep the site up and running. We’ve also added email address verification for new accounts. I’m going to take a closer look after marching season to see how effective it’s been.

  3. Said it before, Krum is coming for their state spot. Since 2022, they've been heading straight towards state show after showe and slowly closing the gap. I can 100% see them advance this year if any of the state qualifiers make a small slip at area.

  4. No Pasadena memorial always starts like this they always get beat in the beginning but they always past everyone at area which they been doing for the past 2 years

  5. it is possible, but it’s VERY dependent on one band that never makes area: Hightower. they are notorious for having sub-par shows and being the reason that most years 5 bands advance and not 6.

  6. I think Wylie winning music is a lock, probably the same with visuals. However, the percussion and the guard captions may be more of a toss-up.

  8. I don't think the pressure comes from the directors, but it's part of the "team" dynamic. No one wants to be the person that lets everyone else down. It's a great learning experience and teaches these kids a ton that they can apply to their adult life.

  9. While I can’t speak for every LISD band, I know every one of my kids’ band directors past and present have emphasized that competitive results aren’t the goal of band. The kids work hard because they’re driven to excellence and that excellence, like anything worth doing, takes effort. But if you need any evidence that they’re having fun, witness the drumlines/trombones from several schools who put on an impromptu performance of trombone suicide and then played cadences after retreat. I’m glad they’re relaxed enough to do that. That was perhaps my favorite part of the night.

  10. I agree. Richland and Boswell were close in their comp on Saturday (US Bands saginaw) Boswell only beat Richland by 1.2. If Richland can have a very productive week they can definitely get close to beating Boswell

Good question, I'm really not sure. Maybe a result of trying to trim back on the competitions and the budget this year, after going to Grand Nationals last year? 2024 was an incredibly expensive and lengthy, exhausting marching season. But you're right, in the past CP has usually either done Texas Marching Classic at the KRAC, or something like BOA-Waco. In 2022 I think we might have done both? Regardless it's very strange that we won't have an actual tournament-style competition in between BOA-Austin back on 9/20, and UIL Area on 11/1. There's UIL Region on 10/15 but that's obviously not really the same.

Totally agree, I put my comments about Glenn on the 5A thread, but they're definitely fun to watch. In some ways it's very refreshing, because they really appear to be so full of joy, and having a great time. I'm not sure I can say the same about all of the other LISD bands, at least not all the time-- often times it seems they're just working so hard and it's tough for them to have a lot of fun. I include my own kids in that statement, they put a LOT of pressure on themselves. I was in marching band in high school and had great time. But not only were we not a particularly competitive band, but the landscape at the time also wasn't nearly as competitive as it is now. We didn't even start our UIL show until a few weeks before Region, we just did spirit shows and stand tunes for the first 1/3rd of the season.

O’Connor definitely surprised everyone at BOA San Marcos as a finalist while Brandeis wasn’t. But I doubt that they can take them over because they have the kind of show that will peak earlier on in the season and will be harder to improve late in the season because it’s not designed to be as hard as some of the mid-high caliber bands’ shows(ie: Lake Travis, Brandeis, McNeil) . And Taft looks even less likely this season to take the first out position because at USbands Austin Brandeis beat them by a whole 3 point difference. But who knows, maybe Holmes will beat lake Travis and make state finals this year or something. It’s always hard to make accurate predictions early on in the season.

  14. Here’s my guess: 1. Boswell (music, perc,GE) 2. Richland (visual) 3. TC 4. North Mesquite 5. Little Elm (guard) 6. Birdville 7. Lakeview 8. Legacy 9. North Garland 10. Krum (trust) obv TC or Richland could win but my gut is leaning towards Boswell

  16. I hope they make area finals too show was amazing but there one of those bands who do really good early season and then fall of at the end but this year might change

  17. the thing is clements show seems relatively unfinished choreo wise, meaning theyll probably have to add more visuals throughout their season. meanwhile, pm seems to be just about done visually. all i think that’s left for them is cleaning, and if they can clean a lot from where they are right now, i can definitely see them in the run this year. its the same thing as i said with dawson, they definitely have some dirt visually and musically, but they seem to be on a really good track in terms of how much they have on the field

  18. Land of 1000 Tempo’s was a glorious mess last night at the LISD event but honestly, band for band I think it’s the most density of top quality bands of any event.

  32. I think China Spring will win the entire comp this year. I feel like after getting second place back to back years, and them looking the best they have in early season, they're gonna take home #1.

    UIL 6A Area E 2025

If 30 or more bands attend Area, then yes, there will be 6 State spots and 12 finalist If I counted correctly, there are 30 6A bands in this Area, so if one doesn’t qualify for area, only 5 bands will advance to state

  34. I absolutely agree. I have no doubts that Harlingen wants it this year, they’ve been out of finals for two years and their 2022 state run still lives in the memories of the oldest members! From rewatching their 2023 and 2024 productions, they seem to really have leveled up in all aspects of performance. Possibly a staff or writing change? Those kids sound awesome. Weslaco and LF are the real deals this contest. I can see them displaying much higher levels of execution this weekend, after all it’s been almost two weeks since BOA, and Weslaco wasn’t present at that comp, who knows, they might surprise. They’ve been right on the doorstep of state for so long that they must all be real hungry for it. After reading the comments on Hanna, I hope they can level back up in time for area, and they usually do! Classic program with such a signature sound that I wouldn’t put out of the top 5 this year. Can’t wait to see Edinburg, last year they were absolutely dominating the early season but fell short at area. Like others are saying, it’s only really locked for JBA and possibly LF and United, but that 3rd spot could be anyone really. Area G is always fun because of how close the bands all are! For that spot it could honestly be anyone from Weslaco, both Edinburgh schools, Hanna, PSJA, or Harlingen. It’s all gonna come down to the smallest details. And yes, about JBA, I’m not exactly sure about their schedule, but they usually attend a contest or two upstate.

  35. After some thinking and watching a few shows again, I would switch 6/7/8 to: 6. Rock Hill 7. Independence 8. JJ Pearce Since Celina is not attending finals, I move North Forney in: 11. Plano East 12. North Forney

  37. Actually a pretty strong lineup. Brewer, SGP, Kaufman and Poteet will all be fighting for that top spot, and there's some solid bands to fill out the remaining spots

  39. Here is the schedule for San Benito festival: https://www.region28band.org/2025 San Benito MB Contest Schedule (Updated).pdf San Benito HS appears to be an exhibition performance. My San Benito Marching Festival Prediction: 1. Los Fresnos 2. Edinburg 3. Weslaco (haven't seen) 4. Hanna 5. Harlingen 6. Veterans 7. Economedes Hot take: I can see Edinburg possibly winning if they make some nice improvements. Yes, Los Fresnos placed significantly higher than Edinburg at BOA Mcallen, however if you exclude the General effect scores, then Edinburg gains the upper-hand in scoring over Los Fresnos. Just something to think about!

  41. Harlingen is phenomenal can’t wait for more of them on Saturday rooting for them! I have LF over Weslaco. LF sound is fantastic and they’re very clean visually but I can see Weslaco giving them a tough fight. Hanna and Edinburgh for captions I could definitely see as well. JBA and Edinburgh North will be at Texas Marching Classic October 11th (thank you flomarching) with our friends up north. As far as i know they’ll be there for the UISD competition this Saturday as well as Edinburgh N (i think. They aren’t on the schedule for SB marching)

clements definitely deserved the win at this point in the season, but i wouldnt be surprised if they surpassed clements at some point this season. they have a LOT of visual elements and it’s hard to clean all that visual stuff at this point in season
