Amazing sounds from Hutto! The opening hit is so powerful and clean! They featured the different ensembles very well throughout the next movement, and the ballad was beautiful. Great job Hutto!v

So with first block being done, I have to say I was very impressed with many of the bands! Here is how I rank the first block-

1. Cedar Park

2. Leander

3. McCallum

4. Hutto

5. Burnet

6. Stony Point

7. The Ann Richards School

I’d switch Stony Point and Burnet but other than that I agree!

Cedar and Leander for sure! McCallum could definitely sneak in and Hutto will probably be just outside of final

I'm really curious to see how CP and Leander end up comparing up. Both had outstanding performances, so it will be fun to see which AAA band comes out on top, plus we still have Rouse to see. Definitely could see McCallum sneak in, but most likely will be a couple out due to the depth of this contest.

Gatesville coming out real strong to start the second block! After making it to State last year, this band is truly wanting to go again! Probably won't get to see them in finals, but definitely a band we will want to keep watching for this season!

Beautiful performance from Gatesville! It's gonna be really close between them and Burnet for that AA title. Could see it going either way, but most likely Burnet imo. That ballad was so beautiful, great soloist, and they looked really good as well!

Me too! I think their performance was stellar!! (pun intended) But I do also think how early they performed might hinder them advancing to finals.

That is always a factor that can give some bands the advantage and others not so much!

Wow everyone is doing great today! I am really impressed by Texas bands just pushing the level of competitiveness over the years.

Amazing performance from Westwood! I'd be very surprised if we don't see them tonight in finals! Those woodwinds were ripping through those difficult licks with ease, soloist were on fire, and the drill was very clean. Really loved that performance. Great job Westwood!

And what's even more crazy is that it's still September and everyone is sounding like were halfway through the season!

I will be taking some time from this contest to go watch the Las Cruces BOA contest to get the chance to see some west Texas bands. I will be back though to watch Vista Ridge, Cedar Ridge, and Rouse.

Great performance from Tom Glenn! A little bit of dirt in the brass, but other than that they sounded really good! Soloist were great, and the visual package was very cool looking! They are quickly on their way to the level of the other LISD schools, great job Glenn!
