Couldn't post immediately because the forum got overloaded but dang I feel so bad for Cedar Ridge and Westwood, I did not expect them to be out...And I feel even worse for Bowie because now they probably don't have a chance at Grand Nats finals.

Very interested to see those prelims recap and see where everyone else ended up.

But super happy for Leander and LD Bell! Great way to make a statement after not being in finals last year.

Ok so I correctly guessed 13/14 finalists. I got 5/7 right in the top half, and 4/7 right in the bottom half.

Congratulations to every band who participated in the past 2 days! I’m very happy with the results, and congratulating every program that made it to finals, as well as the class champions! Wishing a great run for everyone tonight. 🎉

Bell has not placed in the top half here since 2012. Way to go! Being a finalist bubble band in conversation to top half is shocking. Wonderful redemption from state (maybe speaks a bit more to that AM judging).

I just realized, by virtue of being a top half finalist this year, Bell still would’ve made finals even if the 5 missing finalists from last year(Hebron, FloMo, Keller, Pearland, Coppell) competed this year. How they’d have placed compared to these groups we’ll never know, maybe they’d be higher than say coppell and Pearland? But regardless, What an achievement during a time when marching band is more competitive than ever before!

All in all, with each judge playing an impactful role in giving a ranking, not just a score at UIL, the volatility of that probably gives more credence to the disadvantage of going early at UIL, it’s something I believe, and if you ask anybody, they would definitely rather go on later than very early on.

After sweeping class 4A at BOA prosper and winning prelims there as well, and finishing 3rd AREA B, it’s no wonder Bell has been so successful this season. I knew they’d be great this season ever since I first saw their show in exhibition at HEB Marching contest. Amazing!💙

Top half is the top 7 scoring bands from prelims (1st-7th), bottom half is the next 7 (8th-14th). This determines performance order. Bottom half finalists perform first in random order then the Top half perform last in random order

Finals are broken into 7 lower finalists and 7 high.   None of the high will place below 7th

Let's not forget Pearland. They certainly would have been in the conversation for finals as well

UIL scoring is wild. Bands will be like 14th in ensemble visual then 39th in individual visual😭😭
