josephbandfan Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 Tickets: GA $10 Students and Senior Citizens $5 Good for both prelims and finals, what a steal! And we get to see haltom for finals exhibition as well Quote
Anthony V Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 I will likely be at this contest all day, and will try to provide up-to-date information on what's going on. After the contest, I'll provide my thoughts on both the competition and exhibition bands in detail -- much like I did for Mansfield, except a bit more filled-out. (I did not prepare as well as I should have!) Quote
northtexasbandfan Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 Ugh ... the latest National Weather Service forecast is not good. Rain chances are way up from what was predicted yesterday. Quote

The past few years I've jokingly asked Kathy Handler when we're allowed to start submitting bets and pledge amounts for the forecast. It could be a fundraiser at this rate. northtexasbandfan 1 Quote
meursault Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 Some thoughts: Coppell and Keller Central will have a nice battle going. I'm thinking that Keller and FloMo will be very close together, score-wise It'll be nice to see how Duncanville stacks up against Coppell, Keller, and Keller Central what with Area B approaching. Mansfield will turn some heads. Quote

Guest Posted October 11, 2018 Posted October 11, 2018 I could see Colleyville Heritage doing some damage here. Quote
northtexasbandfan Posted October 11, 2018 Posted October 11, 2018 Still looking like we need a major bribe thrown the way of the weather gods. Why can't we just confine all rain to Sundays when there's no band competitions ... or practices ... or high school football games? Quote
josephbandfan Posted October 11, 2018 Posted October 11, 2018 Was DFW not enough for the rain gods Quote
Bandnerd03 Posted October 11, 2018 Posted October 11, 2018 It's almost comical how often it rains the day of Birdville Quote

TXMarchingMadness87654 Posted October 11, 2018 Posted October 11, 2018 Wondering what's going to happen with this one. We're quickly approaching Saturday and according to The Weather Channel, there's 100% chance of rain. It starts at 1am and becomes more likely by 7am and forward. When my kids were in Haltom band, Haltom performed once at the BISD festival in each child's four years there (my kids overlapped one year and they didn't perform that year). Seems it's going to be another one where it's rained out from the start - and definitely can't imagine there will be finals. It's been a super rainy season this year. I SO feel for the bands not being able to perform. Such a bummer. Quote
Bandisdope Posted October 11, 2018 Posted October 11, 2018 1. Flomo 2. Keller 3. Coppell4. Keller Central5. Duncanville 6. Trinity 7. Aledo 8. Mansfield9. Lewisville 10. Byron Nelson?? Not sure about who could be in 10th. I'd Flomo gets a good lead over Keller, Keller with a good lead over Coppell, and Coppell a good lead over Keller Central. I think 4-7 could go literally anywhere, and so could 8-10. TLDR: Flomo, Keller, and Coppell are essentially locks especially with a more UIL based grading system. Quote
LostChoirGuy Posted October 11, 2018 Posted October 11, 2018 Byron Nelson did well at BOA DFW actually. I could see them making finals. Quote
Band_dad_of_2 Posted October 12, 2018 Posted October 12, 2018 The Birdville contest has been cancelled due to weather concerns. Flippin' weather!!!! ENOUGH ALREADY!!! Quote
northtexasbandfan Posted October 12, 2018 Posted October 12, 2018 The Birdville contest has been cancelled due to weather concerns. Flippin' weather!!!! ENOUGH ALREADY!!! Thanks for sharing ... I will say, a bummer, but very smart of them to cancel a day in advance before everyone gets hyped and ready the day of. Now we'll have to see what this weather could mean for BOA Waco.... Quote
Band_dad_of_2 Posted October 12, 2018 Posted October 12, 2018 Man, that really sucks. I've been looking at the radar trying to see if BOA Waco will be affected by storms and seeing this update is a little foreboding... It really does.....I watched the forecast last night. Between today and Tuesday, there could be 3-5 inches of rain in the DFW area. Quote
Percmom21 Posted October 12, 2018 Posted October 12, 2018 It also looks like Region on Tuesday at the FAAC will be rescheduled as well...should know by the end of the day they said. Quote
LostChoirGuy Posted October 12, 2018 Posted October 12, 2018 I understand, but this is so disappointing. We want these kids to have a chance to perform these shows they have worked so hard on! Stop taking away their chances, rain! Quote
