Popular Post anotherbandmom Posted November 16, 2025 Popular Post Posted November 16, 2025 Idk guys I was generally more effected by FloMo's show but I'm just the townsfolk. Feels like another one of those "it just comes down to the run" thing. Team Texas showed out big time though and I am proud of us. utee94, clarinote, cheeto2401 and 8 others 11 Quote
JFNDOWBFAN Posted November 16, 2025 Posted November 16, 2025 The 50th BOA in Indy, that specializes in the GE, goes tooooooo, the Indy school that won GE, color me shocked. Did we expect different? lost 1 Quote
clarinote Posted November 16, 2025 Posted November 16, 2025 How badly did they score flomo in GE for them to win both performance captions and still lose by 0.2. Ridiculous. MoBone 1 Quote

Popular Post GeekBoy54 Posted November 16, 2025 Popular Post Posted November 16, 2025 I know a lot of y'all would've loved to see Flower Mound win, and they came very close to doing it, but how about celebrating both them and Avon on the history they made tonight? Flower Mound is the first ever Texas band to win Outstanding Visual in grand nats finals, and Avon is the first band ever to do a threepeat twice. All of the bands that performed were fantastic, including 4 other Texas bands in finals and 2 in semi's. These kids work extremely hard and there's no need to push forth this whole Texas vs Indiana war. Feels a little bit like how LD Bell came thaaaaaaaaaaat close to winning in 2006 before coming back in 2007 and taking it. I know a Grand Nats win is right around the corner for Flower Mound in the future. Anthony V, Dallas Hobbs, hsbandnerd212 and 3 others 4 2 Quote
justabandkid94 Posted November 16, 2025 Posted November 16, 2025 Coming out from my lurking the last few seasons… First, congrats to all 5 Texas bands in finals!! Secondly, a Texas band winning visual, finally. Wow. What a statement by Flower Mound grabbing visual. When was the last time a band other than Carmel, Avon or Broken Arrow won the Visual caption? 2004? Visual proficiency in Texas has been a long gestating development, and I’ve really been impressed by the strides that have been made in the last decade. VERY noticeably a post-COVID surge in strength from the Texas programs. I’m not an educator, so sure what’s going on, but it’s so evident. The sense of ownership, formal awareness and overall dexterity in movement across the board has completely skyrocketed. I understand that losing by 0.2 stings, but I hope these kids (and everyone on this forum…) understand how much of a shake up this is. LeanderMomma 1 Quote
Dallas Hobbs Posted November 16, 2025 Posted November 16, 2025 Guys I guessed the first 10/12 finalists correctly! I had Flo mo first and Avon second. I also correctly guessed Flo mo would win visual. I AT FIRST actually had Flo mo and Carmel tied for music but I chickened out on guessing a tie🙈(Carmel’s show was hard for me to analyze because I couldn’t find a full recording of them. I literally had to make inferences based on the 3 YouTube short clips Box5 posted😅). I had Flo mo for general effect but Avon got it again (congrats to them and their 6th(?) victory victory!) I’m patting myself on the back for these placement guesses cuz I’m usually way off lol but I learned to be more critical with what I’m listening to and to re-listen to recordings (and the top half/bottom also helps with guessing lol. And I might’ve had a subconscious bias because of semifinals class placement awards. ) And I just went with the band I thought had the most depth of demand in their show and was the more impressive performance wise. I think that helps also with gauging which show had the stronger “effect”. slowbrass 1 Quote

A GE judge not vibing with your show can drop you multiple places, or even multiple points. MoBone 1 Quote

Popular Post Iplaydadrum Posted November 16, 2025 Popular Post Posted November 16, 2025 Unfortunate byproduct of the 20/20/60 distribution (imo they should just follow DCI and do 30/30/40). However, people should be celebrating the fact that this just confirms that Texas is producing some of the best trained marchers both visually and especially musically in the country by a large margin. It's even more crazy to think that even with FloMo winning music, they're still not number one musically in Texas (although I think you can argue that they had the best drumline in Texas this year and probably one of the best fronts). goat_trumpet, hsbandnerd212, MoBone and 1 other 4 Quote

goat_trumpet Posted November 16, 2025 Posted November 16, 2025 I would like to see what would and wouldn't change at a highly competitive BOA comp like grand nats if they were to change the scoring to 30/30/40. I feel like it's one of the few things that DCI does right, and I want to see change like this transfer to BOA as well to see what would happen! MoBone 1 Quote
