I really don't know what to say about Lone Star. If that run, wasn't it idk what would be. Wall of Sound. Musically seemed more locked in, visually as well. Just such a great show, tons of musical variety, soloist were fantastic, and they really do a great job with the music and visuals displaying the theme. I'm hoping that was the run they needed but regardless of what happens, an incredible season for them, they are here to stay, fantastic job Lone Star!!

I disagree with the ranking of the top twelve. The split on the judging panel is not accurately based: 4/7 of the panel are based on music, while visual is half, 2/7. Suggesting that music is twice as valuable as visual in scoring doesn’t reflect marching band in its true glory. The placement of bands like Lonestar in prelims demonstrate that flaw.

By looking at numbers……Forney reported 2933. Princeton reported 2965. Prosper walnut grove reported 2476. Prosper Rockhill 2533. So all of these may be moving up. I don’t think I would want my band competing in 6a. But I am just a grandmother of 2 Keller central band members. We were really hoping to move down.

Superb run from Burleson Centennial!! Fanfare intro was super locked in; drum break into that really dark start was clean. Sym 10 again was great, WWs killing those runs. Such a pretty ballad, those soloists were on fire. Basses, wow, so freaking clean. Ending was so freaking good, love the usage of the props and golden tarps, and that soprano, my goodness, so pure. Just such an emotional show executed so freaking well, amazing job BC!!

I have to say, I'm really pleased with the talent that area F sent to state this year, and I'm especially pleased with the talent they sent to finals. Aledo, Richland, and BC are firing on all cylinders.

Holy cow Jack.C.Hays!!! Just such a great show from start to finish, they really showed why they made finals. Lovely Flute duet leading into that huge opening hit!! That ballad was just gorgeous, wonderful trumpet solo, great staging on the lighthouse. Visually super pleasing, loved the different wave sets, and just overall such a great performance, really strong ensemble sound with very minor stickouts. Great job Hays!!

Area F was solid this year. Won't be sad to see Aledo move up to 6A though, 😉. Great to see these 3 crush it today.

Gotta say I agree with all of the rankings thus far. Not sure what all the Lone Star controversy is about.

WHAT a performance from Rouse!! Imo, they have become the Marcus of 5A in terms of musicality, felt like a concert hall show. Fanfare opening was amazing, great style from the trumpets. 2nd movement is straight brass feature so clean and powerful. Ballad is so beautiful, Oboe soloists is top notch. Such a strong ending going into the 2/4-4/4, rotating pods are clean, just such a strong run and amazingly executed show, amazing job Rouse House!!

My last post for awhile.....If that was run for Lone Star wasn't the most rich and full of textures and flourishes i don't know what  to they need to do other than go to Evan VanDoren and have him make them a Show like the top 4 in finals..... just my observation..... thank you in advance..... lol....

Agreed! The kids are amazing and don't need the LEDs. It distracts from their amazing effort!

Such a fun show from Leander!!! While the video boards can be distracting a little bit at times, they do add some cool effect. Great opener with hunting wabbits, great job maintaining that huge curve form. Love the 2/4 movement, lots of great musical variety and texture, love that muted trumpet solo with the pic. Beautiful ballad, and such a fun ending with that ummmm...electronic sax solo, or whatever it's called. Super impactful bodywork throughout from the FE to the brass. Great last run, amazing job Leander!!

Andddddd, yeah, 7 time incoming, I mean OMG. I really don't have anything to say. I haven't seen them in a minute but I mean that's really all they needed to do, and they just did so like, yeah. That ballad, Trombone solo, PURE. Just clean all around, no complaints, will probably be taking Gold, would love an upset but that was nearly perfect, amazing job Cedar Park!!

We were in the 20th row yesterday and can confirm that is exactly the case.  And, we were like.... why would you hide your band kids and guard behind these boards?  Can't for the life of me understand why they didn't put them back field.
