  1. QUOTE (oDesign @ Aug 27 2007, 11:23 PM)Langhams show is an origional arrangement by Key Poulan of "Gloriosa", which is by this japenese composer named Ito i believe. At our game this week, well be playing the second half of the first movement, which is about 52 seconds long. (if we finish it, which im pretty sure we will.) We might have to do an LCHS spell out to take up the rest of the time. We just fired our drill writer this weekend because he was giving us un-usable drill, so we're very behind. I forgot his name, but the new drill writer we hired used to be the director at Reagan and he wrote the shows apparently while he was there. Right now he's re-doing our first 13 sets i believe , and working on correcting our second movement drill i think. Mark Chambers is the name.
  2. QUOTE (ClarinetGlissandoInBlue @ Aug 27 2007, 09:39 PM)anyone know what Brazoswood is playing this year? we play them this friday. Brazoswood's show is entitled, "Rain" Their musical selections are: Theme from The Passion Soundtrack Cloudburst - Eric Whitacre Escapade - Joseph Spaniola Water Night - Eric Whitacre Aegean Festival Overture - Andreas Makris I'm gonna plug for a pal of mine here....but he arranged the music for Brazoswood's show this year. I've been listening to it for the past few days. It's fantastic!
  3. QUOTE (marcomac29 @ Aug 27 2007, 08:34 PM) We (mansfield), have our first football game on friday vs. Haltom. Are you guys still doing Whitacre's "Lux Aurumque" and Frou Frou/Imogen Heap's "Let Go"?
  4. QUOTE (Danpod @ Aug 27 2007, 07:52 PM)You want fries with that? .....Now, why you want bacon and cheese on that?!?!
  5. QUOTE (marcomac29 @ Aug 25 2007, 11:17 PM)So which bands made finals at arlington last year? I'm just wondering, because that's the only one our school is going to this year. 2006 BOA Arlington Finals Coppell HS Haltom HS Hebron HS James Bowie (Austin) HS L.D. Bell HS Mansfield HS Marcus HS Richland HS Stephen F. Austin (Sugar Land) HS The Woodlands HS Three of the Finalist bands from 2006 will not be in attendance in Arlington this year--James Bowie, Stephen F. Austin & The Woodlands.
  6. The little girl that's playing the EWI (Electronic Wind Instrument) sax solo.... I want to hear her play the EWI sax solo from Spring's 2000 show, Altered State.
  7. QUOTE (actualgirltrombone @ Aug 22 2007, 02:50 PM) If Cedar Park doesnt make finals with all of the dancing we got going on, I'm going to be very upset. We're poppin and lockin like never before! XD XD XD Just put on a great show that utilizes both the musical and visual elements at a high level and you guys will be fine. That's where the real General Effect points come from. Also, just want to say that Michael Floyd is a great addition to the staff. I've enjoyed his guard designs over the years when he taught in S. Carolina.
  8. It varies by year. Really....all three of the major Texas BOA Regionals are competitive. The level of talent and competition between the bands are incredibly high. Forgive me if I leave a few bands out, but as far as major contenders go..... In San Antonio this year, you have all of the major contenders in attendance, minus Stephen F. Austin. In Houston, you have Brazoswood, Clear Brook, Cypress Falls, Harlingen, James Bowie, Langham Creek, Ronald Reagan, Spring, Stephen F. Austin, The Woodlands, Westfield & Winston Churchill. In Arlington, you have Berkner, Clear Brook, Coppell, Haltom, Hebron, L.D. Bell, Marcus, Richland & Westfield. It's going to be a great season.
  9. QUOTE (borchnork @ Aug 22 2007, 12:38 PM) What school is this? i don't think I've seen any of those shows before. It's for Leander HS.
  10. That's gotta be the cutest thing I've ever seen.
  11. QUOTE (titancoaster @ Aug 19 2007, 12:37 PM) Wow, I didnt realize that UIL decided to move the texas state marching contest to Indianapolis, what a odd location!!! My mistake. I accident left the Grand Nationals link under the date for State. Fixed.

  13. QUOTE (rolexdude @ Aug 17 2007, 05:19 PM) Went and saw LD Bell practice on tuesday night, I think I remember hearing it was called The Arrival... Nope.
  14. QUOTE (bluebellbrass07 @ Aug 16 2007, 11:53 PM) haha... Haha, yeah. I know now. I swear it was unintentional.
  15. L.D Bell 2005 & 2006 are some of the best shows I've ever seen in the activity. Everything from the overall design, the programming of the music and visual, the emotional content, to the concept and story line. What they are putting out on the field are flat out productions. The ballad (Thomas Newman's "Angels in America") and closer (Eric Whitacre's "Lux Aurumque") from 2005 along with the entire 2006 show is just surreal. There are no words to describe it. The current L.D. Bell reminds me of the Plymouth Canton (Michigan) era from 1998-2001. Their shows were complete masterpieces. Both bands transcending the activity in their respective era.
  16. QUOTE (whitewing09 @ Aug 16 2007, 12:21 AM) well from what i saw on youtube supposedly the remaining was the 1st part of a trilogy but i dont know The 2005 show was Part 1 of the trilogy. 2005 - "Ascension: Light of Gold" 2006 - "The Remaining" 2007 - "T............?"
  17. Cash in the bandbucks for some real currency

  19. QUOTE (borchnork @ Aug 12 2007, 10:59 AM) I think they are only doing arlington thi syear. Who? L.D. Bell? Please read above posts! They will be at BOA Arlington, San Antonio & Grand Nationals. They were also originally signed up for BOA Houston as well but withdrew due to the already busy schedule. http://www.bands.org/public/events/regionals/
  20. QUOTE (whitewing09 @ Aug 11 2007, 10:50 PM) hopefully theyll go to BOA SA They are. You can find the roster of bands for the BOA Regionals & Grand Nationals on BOA's website at: http://www.bands.org/public/events/regionals/
  21. QUOTE (borchnork @ Aug 11 2007, 03:50 PM) It's the end of the trilogy right? Sure is. Stay tuned!
  22. QUOTE (gavinrh @ Aug 9 2007, 09:29 PM) I think Lassiter's gonna do really well at nats this year, well based on their winning percentage there being 1.000 Lassiter isn't going to Grand Nationals. Also, Lassiter has been to Nationals prior to 1998. They came in fifth in 1990 and third in 1994.
  23. QUOTE (whitewing09 @ Aug 8 2007, 11:35 PM) are they even good anymore? i mean i saw one of their scores it was like an 85 or something and it looked low has anyone seen that dude on youtube from lassiter or whatever claiming to be from there talking all this junk about how some of the top bands suck Lassiter is still good. Keep in mind that their 85.65 score was at the mid-season St. Louis, Missouri Super Regional. Scores at BOA progress as the season goes on.
  24. Langham Creek attended BOA a lot in the late 1990s-2004. They just took a break in '05 & '06.
  25. QUOTE (PearlandB8908 @ Aug 7 2007, 06:10 PM)i talked to my director , rice university has not called back BOA at all , niether for USSBA and from what i can see pearland maybe hosting both events You're correct for USSBA. Pearland has now been confirmed. I'm on the event staff for the USSBA State Championships and having the event right up the road from me is a plus since I'm in Angleton. I also went to BOA Pearland last year and I loved how everything was set up. And, the fact that Pearland's stadium is nice, is great as well. I love Rice University to death but I would not mind it at all if both events are hosted in Pearland.
