I think certain bands just choose to do this. I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure Vandy did back in 19 when they won...I think. But no just more of a thing they chose to do, I think

OMG your right!! I first got into WGI some last year and was absolutely blown away my what those guards and drumlines could do, I can't wait for that, thanks for the reminder, got my new thing to look forward to!

Before scores start, I want to thank, not just the bands that performed these past 3 days, but to all the kids in band this year, not just here in Texas. I think personally, 2019 was my favorite year or marching band all around. Every band had incredible shows, and GN's was peak, but 2023 ya'll, this was something real, real special. Getting to see so many wonderful performances both live and on Box5 for these past two months has been so much fun, so thank you, to all the kids around the nation who made this year possible. For putting in countless hours of work, for you dedication and hard work, for performing through the sweat in tears, and for allowing us to have the opportunities to witness magic on the field be made. I've made countless memories this season, and I can't wait already for 2024. Thank you to all the kids, parents, boosters and band enthusiast that made this season so special, and what may be my new personal favorite season of marching band. And to our 12 finalists, no matter what the results are, be happy and proud of yourselves for all that you have accomplished this season!

Well, everyone, that's the end of the competitive BOA season! Crazy to think that it's already over, but I think it's over, but here we are, and the end. And with that being said, here are my predictions for finals! Doing two list, personal rankings and what I think will happen:
Mine:
1st. Hebron (music/ge)
2nd. Carmel
3rd. The Woodlands (visual)
4th. Avon
5th. William Mason
6th. Blue Springs
7th. Pearland
8th. Round Rock
9th. Bentonville
10th. Keller
11th. Brownsburg
12th. Fishers
What I think will happen:
1st. Carmel (visual/GE)
2nd. Avon
3rd. Hebron (music)
4th. The Woodlands
5th. Blue Springs
6th. William Mason
7th. Pearland

9th. Round Rock

Such an intriguing and very cool show from Blue Springs!! That Sparano Sax was again just killer, being able to come in like that with those big gaps of silence is so freaking impressive! Staging is very effective, and visuals/drill are super clean! If anything is gonna hold them back it's gonna be music, not they sounded bad, they sounded wonderful, but it just needs a bit more power at times, but a very enjoyable and very well executed show, amazing job Blue Srpings!

Guys, I actually think that maybe, just maybe, they did it!
I'm not getting my hopes up, but that was BY FAR their best run!!! Musically, I don't know if that could have been any better, and they for sure take music tonight! The demand and execution is unmatched! Visually, their best run of the year, not even kind of close. One rifle drop but other than that guard was Killer! I'd be beyond shocked if they don't medal, but I think they maybe, just maybe, will win. Regardless of the results, thank you Hebron for that out of this world performance!

The design of William Mason's show, PERFECT!!! From start to finish they are executing at such a high level!!! Great sounds all the time, beautiful ensemble/soloist sounds all around! Guard was such a treat to watch, visually stunning, I mean wow Mason, just wow! Such an emotionally powerful and beautiful, could be my favorite show they've ever done, amazing job William Mason!

Carmel's execution is currently unmatched. The show is a GE machine! Visually, I think not as clean as semis, I still see personally Avon/TW's taking it, still have faith in Hebron to win it all, but wow that was really, freaking, clean! Did here some stickouts musically though, especially in the 1st trumpet towards the end, could cost them, but I'm wouldn't be surprised if they won. Don't think that's impossible to beat but also doing so would be VERY hard, great job Carmel, really enjoyed that performance, especially musically!

Wow Avon, Wow! We'll see how Carmel does but wouldn't be surprised at all if they took visual, will be VERY close between them and Woodlands. Musically I'm satisfied throughout the entire show, great sounds all around! Guard and percussion are also incredible! Don't see them not medaling, but anything is possible, amazing job Avon!

The Woodlands......I've been left speechless after what I just witnessed. Guard; WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW!!!! Lot's of WOWS! They surely aren't humans, must be aliens because what they just did is 2nd to none! Best music performance of the season, Mellos killing their licks right of the back, soloist were amazing, not stickouts, I mean HELLO WOODLANDS! They did not come to play, could see them taking the Eagle or coming very close. Oh and visually, out of this world, so freaking clean, amazing job The Woodlands!

WAY TO GO BIG BLUE!!! Brought their best run of the season for their last!!! Sucks they had some mic issues, but other than that, I'm absolutely blown away! Drill was the cleanest it's ever been, and guard did amazing! Their Clarinet soloist, so so good! And that brass continues to impress me each year with the maturity and high quality they play with, WOW! Don't think that run could have gone much better, congratulations on your wonderful finals performance Keller!

LETS GO PEARLAND!!! Unfortunately right when they started playing my stomach decided to explode on me, so I only heard their run, but boy WAS IT GOOD!!! SO much cleaner than their semis run! Ensemble sounds were ELECTRIC!
Soloist killed it, by far their best run musically, so glad and proud of yall for making finals, great job Pearland!!

WAY TO GO ROUND ROCK!!!! Finished on what was IMO their best performance of the year!!! Drill was SUPER clean, it's crazy how big they look in that set where they are spread across the entire field, I mean wow! Soloist were on fire per the usual, those Bones are doing God's work! Guard was also extremely impressive, only one rifle drop but was flawless otherwise! They sounded amazing, looked amazing, and that show has grown on me so much, one of my favorites from them, amazing job Dragon Band!!!

Amazing performance from Brownsburg!!! While the music may not be the most challenging, they play it at such a high level! Great soloist all around, and the drill is so appealing to the eye, and helps bring out the theme a lot. Love the different variations of the pipes throughout the show, especially the big one at the very end, very cool set! Guard was fantastic throughout, just great show all around, great job Brownsburg!
