True. Lakeview Madrid finals last year in arguably the hardest area in 6A and I personally see them winning it all this year here.
I wouldn’t be to fast to count out Highland Park. While they have struggled the past two seasons in 6A, I really think it was bc of their “silly” and fun show designs, bc they still looked and sounded good, and they had great success with those style of shows in 5A. So, assuming they do that type of show again, they could very much win, but I do agree the LC could win it as well, we really just won’t know till the season starts

We actually will only have 4 bands to state because you need need at least 25 bands to send 5. Since there's only 23, there will only be 4 to state. And another thing i have observed is that some bands that missed finals last year would make it this year, for instance, Lake Ridge, Trinity and Legacy. Here would be the results of this "modified" area based on last year's results:
1. Coppell**
2. LD Bell**
3. Timber Creek**
4. Keller**
5. Haltom*
6. Southlake Carroll*
7. Keller Central*
8. Lake Ridge*
9. Trinity*
10. Legacy*
11. Boswell
12. Mansfield
13. South Grand Prairie
14. Martin
15. North Crowley
16. Crowley
17. Arlington
18. Weatherford
19. Bowie
20. Cedar Hill
21. Grand Prairie
I meant 4 😭

Maybe I was misinformed. I thought that every school could possibly go to the state competition yearly now. Is it still every other year?
No it’s still every year for all conferences. There’s just been some changes in the schools in each area and creation/getting rid off some areas, but everyone can go to state every year!

So are there 23 schools in the area?
Yes it looks like it, but we still will unfortunately only get 4 to state.

Coppell is still in this area, right? It isnt on the list of 22 bands above.
Yeah they still are

I’m super excited to see how this area turns out!! With the additions of bands like Pine Tree and Celina, it’s going to be a MASSIVE battle for finals and state. Throwing in my way to early predictions:
1st: Celina
2nd: Pine Tree (have a really good feeling about them)
3rd: Sulphur Springs
4th: North Lamar
5th: Canton (could be higher)
6th: Lumbertown
7th: Paris
I’m only gonna to my top 7, if they end up sending ten there are a good amount of programs that could take the other 3 spots. Will be a fun one to watch!!

Do we know if bands like Lakeview Centennial that are opting up/down are competing here or at 6A area C? It seems like there’s still some confusion, as others have mentioned them competing in 6A and others in 5A. Assuming it’s 5A, which Imo is their best option for making state, I think they have a great shot at state. I’m imagining HP will once again run this area, as they did very well in 5A with their creative cute shows, and am thinking rn, assuming everyone stays in their actual class will look around these lines:
1st: Highland Park
2nd: Lakeview Centennial
3rd/4th: Poteet and North Mesquite-could be in any order
5th: Mount Pleasant(could be top 3)
6th: Red Oak
7th: West Mesquite
8th: Terrell
9th: Kaufman
10th: A lot of bands

The schedule had been posted for the World Championships! Marcus is indeed going, yay, and The Woodlands are the last group in SW to perform in prelims! Idk if having a later performance time is better for WGI stuff like marching band, but going right after Avon I think might help them in terms of comparison to the other top guards, especially if they have really good run!

Depending on how richardson’s program does this year after their end to the season last year I could see them getting top 8- or maybe top 5 if berkner or Duncanville have a poor season
100%! They had a great finish to their season and if they can build off that they could be top 5 here

Waxahachie coming back is very very nice! I do agree with your predictions, but only time will tell what the programs next year shape out to be. (I will say I did know about the new area two months in advance).
Oh for sure anything could change between now and this comp!

I managed to find all the bands in this area-
6A Area C (Region 3, 4, 20, 21)-
Region 3 (11)-
Forney HS
Garland HS
John Horn HS
Mesquite HS
North Forney HS
North Garland HS
Rockwall HS
Rockwall-Heath HS
Rowlett HS
Royse City HS
Sachse HSRegion 4 (0 Bands)
Region 20 (13)-Berkner HS
Dallas Jesuit HS
Duncanville HS
Irving HS
Irving MacArthur HS
Irving Nimitz HS
JJ Pearce HS
Lake Highlands HS
Lancaster HS
Richardson HS
Skyline HS
Washington HS
Waxahachie HS
Region 21 (2)-Longview HS
Tyler Legacy HSsome notable changes include Duncanville, Berkner, Waxahachie and Forney being added to this area! In total, there are 26 bands meaning that at most, 5 bands can advance to state from this area
Thanks sooo much for this and the other big updates you made today, really helpful and appreciated! I think right now, it’s safe to say Waxahachie, Forney, and I’d imagine Ducanville will be the top 3, in that order. I’d at the moment have Rockwall in the 4th spot, and hopefully a 5th band goes, not really any room for area at region, but if all goes well, I’d say the 5th spot could go anywhere between Berkner, who’d I have there, and could contest for the 4th spot, depends if they hold their momentum, or other bands like Lake Highlands, Richardson, North Forney, Sachse, Royce City, JJ Pearce(big dark horse) or Rockwall Heath. I could also see Rockwall in 3rd if they have another strong show like last year. Idk how many to finals, but if it’s 10 here’s what I’m thinking at the moment:
1st Waxahachie
2nd: Forney
3rd: Ducanville
4th: Rockwall
5th: LH/Berkner
6th: Berkner/LH
7th: JJ Pearce
8th: Sachse
9th: Richardson
10th: North Forney/Heath
Pearce is the biggest dark horse for me. They could be as high as 4th, or as low as 9th. They have an Amazing concert program and did make finals at a super competitive Area B, don’t count them out, should be a super fun area, praying that all the bands get 1’s!

First off, do we know where this comp is being held, just wondering? I’m guessing the new Prosper or McKinney Stadium, and yeah, this is gonna be a bloodbath of an area. Area B, C and J are just now like 5A area B, and things are just now more competitive than ever. I think it’s safe to say we know the first 3 spots, thank the lord there is a 4th, which could do to either of the Wylie, McKinney or Prosper schools. We should have 10 to finals, so here’s my way to early predictions:
1st-3rd: LISD schools an any order
4th-7th(any order): Wylie/WE/Prosper/Mckinney Boyd
8th: Rock Hill
9th: Mckinney
10th: Braswell/Byron Nelson/Lewisville

This area is a bloodbath and with the same regions in this area this year, all signs point to it being a bloodbath again this year. There are legit 5, maybe even 6 bands that could make state finals from this area, but only 4 can make it. There will be many interesting storylines in this area this year. Northwest and Princeton are going up to 6A, Lake Dallas is going down to 4A, and Anna is moving up to 5A which means they will be joining this area. The top 6 scores last year were EXTREMELY close last year (Also I know that it's very late to ask lol but does anyone has the raw scores from this area competition last year? I've looked everywhere but can't find them lol, hopefully the UIL starts posting raw scores again this year) and I would imagine the same is gonna happen this year. Also bands like Emerson, Walnut Grove, and Memorial have been getting better and better and I'm very intrigued to see what things they could do this year. Also Lone Star beat Wakeland in prelims last year and if it would've rained more and finals getting canceled, Lone Star would've won area so I'm very interested to see if Lone Star can build on that momentum and potentially take the area crown away from Wakeland. Here would be my WAY too early predictions:
1. Wakeland (one of the best bands in the nation and could win state this year)
2. Lone Star (this band just keeps on getting better and better and always had one the funnest shows last year)
3-7. Argyle/Lebanon Trail/McKinney North/The Colony/Lovejoy
Argyle has been one of the most impressive bands to come up from 4A over the past few years and were very close to making state after being 4th in prelims but then coming in a close 5th in finals. Their success in UIL competition has been very impressive with 8 state championships (currently the state record even though Cedar Park could tie with them this year if they win state again) and once their size gets bigger, they could potentially be a force to be reckoned with if they keep their momentum up. They will also be going to Grand Nationals for the 1st time ever so that'll very exciting for that program.
McKinney North had one of the funnest shows last year which had them make state for the 1st time in a while. Many people were expecting them to move up to 6A for the next realignment but missed the cutoff by literally 2 students which makes them the biggest 5A school in the state with Aledo and Leander being around their size as well. If they have another amazing season this year, they will easily be in that mix to get into state and maybe even make state finals if they qualify for state.
Lebanon Trail has always been very consistent in this area. They dodged a bullet last season with area finals potentially getting canceled which would've had them come up just short behind Argyle and miss state but area finals ended up happening which led to them getting a redemption from prelims and making state by passing up Argyle in finals for that final state spot which led to them making state finals and getting 12th. I'm very interested to see what Lebanon Trail does this season and if they can run it back to state.
The Colony has been on the rise lately and had one their best seasons to date last season. They went from being 1 spot short of finals to a threat to make state all in the span of a year. Based their momentum lately, they could certainly make state which would be a huge accomplishment for that amazing band program.
Lovejoy has always been a consistent area finalist and have been very to making state a few times. They had a rough end to their season last year with getting a 2 at region by a timing penalty which led to a very unplanned to the end of their season. I think Lovejoy is due for redemption year this year and if they have a great season like they had in 2022, they could easily be amongst the bands that could make state.
8-10. Memorial/Centennial/Emerson/Walnut Grove/Reedy/Independence/Liberty/Frisco (it could honestly be any of these bands)
Great breakdown! I think your predictions are spot on, and with programs on the rise, it will be very fun to see how things shake up, but my predictions are in line with yours

This is exciting! It looks like we’ll get a new tenth area added this year. 6A high schools in this area include:
Hebron
Flower Mound
Marcus
Lewisville
Prosper
Rock Hill
Byron Nelson
Allen
Plano
Plano West
Plano East
Wylie
Wylie East
Braswell
Little Elm
If this is actually the case, I think they will only send 3 to state, pretty sure it’s one band for every 5, which means probably the 3 LISD schools. If it’s 4, Prosper and the Wylie schools will be fighting for the last spot, Rock Hill could also make a move

It is official- UIL Area B is regions 5, 30, and 31. Waxahachie and Duncanville are no longer in this area.
Cedar Hill
Mansfield
Legacy
Lake Ridge
Arlington
Bowie
Houston
Lamar
Martin
Grand Prairie
South Grand Prairie
LD Bell
Trinity
Southlake Carroll
Keller
Keller Central
Timber Creek
Haltom
Boswell
Weatherford
Crowley
North Crowley
This is 22 schools- it looks like there will be a maximum of only 4 bands to state from this area, which means the bloodbath continues (and is honestly probably worse) between Keller, Timber Creek, Bell, Coppell, Keller Central, and Southlake. Not to mention Haltom, who qualified to the state contest last year.
ONLY 4 SPOTS😭😭😭 This might be the most competitive Area B ever simply bc of that. I fee Like Keller and Coppell are locks, TC and Bell will most likely take the other two spots but KC,SLC and some other programs will have a something to say as well, my god this is gonna be insane!!
-
And if so can you link the source you got this information from 🙃
-
WAIT IS THIS REAL?!?!?
-
This is already such a stacked lineup! Really happy they have this as a 12 finalist comp bc there are gonna be so many bands on the line of making finals. I’d say right now, here’s what I’m thinking (this is wayyyy to early but why not:
1st: Lone Star
2nd: Argyle/Mckinney
3rd: Mckinney/Argyle
4th: Frisco Independence
5th: Lovejoy
6th: Lake Highlands
7th: Lakeview Centennial
8th: Frisco Memorial
9th: Rowlett
10th: North Forney
11th:Anna/Celina
12th: Celina/Anna
these rankings are based off last season since we haven’t seen anything for the upcoming season, and I tried to base it off how these bands tend to do early season rather then late. I could very much see bands like Lovejoy anywhere from 5th-9th, they just tend to do well early and then fall of around area. Should be a really great finals to watch and somewhat of a early look at 5A area B

98.95 set by Avon in 2019. tho James Logan '05 is still *objectively* the best show in the class ever lol.
in other news both Sac and Fuse overtake Paramount in the standings, close tho. my prediction of Fusion becoming the next new IW champ may come true a season sooner than i expected, helps that there isn't a Gaines show at the top of the mix this yr lol. we'll see, still kinda emotionally cold on Fusion's show but it's def fresher than the other two and has the best staging.
Thank you! I'd say scores seem about right, looking at the recap it looks like GE is what hurt Fisher but they are still moderately close to Carmel in the other categories, tied them in design analysis, and Avon with a 94.05!
-
Avon Carmel and Fishers were all amazing! Fishers and Carmel were much cleaner, and Avon just blew the roof off, holy crap! Does anyone know the record for SW, bc they really are looking to set a new one, un-freaking believable
-
This Northview is such a blast to watch!! Love this show so much, and god they are sooo good!
-
Kiski Area-WOW! Rifle work was just insane, both in difficulty and how clean it was! Such smart design choices using the rotating props to set up their soloist for some challenging tosses that they nailed! Flag work was also so good, big moments at the end where so tight, these SW groups are blowing my mind!
Nothing but clean work from Bellbrook! Great job of conveying the theme throughout, love how they make different forms of circles to illustrate tires in the car-themed show. Plenty of variation of equipment work, super clean, loved everything about it!
Carmel could possibly, Maybe be closer to Avon than I might think, bc other than a couple drops, that was flawless! I will admit, it does feel somewhat repetitive, and that the performance is to long at times, I think it's because there really aren't any changes in the pace, but the demand and execution is very high! Love the rifle work in this one a ton, super exposed, plenty of GE, will be interesting to see how they score, but that was fantastic!
-
HOLY COW Northview!! The amount of individual demand is off the charts, sooo many solo moments that they just killed the entire show! Dance-like theme is present throughout the entire show, LOVE the flag work, I mean wow wow wow, they are REALLY good, so much to love about this show, will be a crowd fav at Dayton for sure!
So ummm I don't have much to say about Avon other than I don't understand how they are this good lol, SPEECHLESS! Freaking phenomenal, love it all, at this point I'm wondering not who's winning SW this year but if any other guard can get 1st from a judge over them, I mean holy cow!
FISHERS!!! Still probably my favorite show of the year, just love the story and how they portray it so so much! Ending flag work with they blue-sky flags is just so freaking clean, rifle moments were also incredible, they're just so dang good, really excited to finish the season, gonna possibly be fighting for a medal once it's as clean as they can be!
