2019 BOA San Antonio
BandFan95 replied to CTJBandPops's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
The best fajitas in San Antonio is at Taco Palenque. Also, go to Pico De Gallo or Mi Tierra! Mi Tierra is a tourist trap but delicious! And the bakery is awesome. I just got an email from MFA about the tickets. They said that they have all been shipped. But if I don’t get them by Thursday of next week, they would leave some at will call for me! -
Sight reading marching band would be amazing. They would have to teach fundamentals. I LOVE IT

What my friend Sam says is correct. If there were clock problems, the contest manager would be able to rule or resolve. -

Ugh! Poor Roma. I'm so old I remember when Roma didn't march a band at Pigskin. I'm so old that all of the Valley bands marched at McHi stadium. Pigskin started at noon with PSJA 9th grade. YES THAT WAS AGES AGO. I remember watching Edinburg marching with the 007..and turning it around. AMAZING. I might live and love Austin now, but the Valley will always be home to me. I hope Roma wins their appeal. -

I'm so ready for San Antonio and not ready. This season has been so amazing for these kids. I know that it's going to be the last time we will so the full show, and that part makes me super sad. However, I AM ready to start Christmas shopping! -

They are up on the main Waco page. Hendrickson finished 17th in prelims? Wow
-
Link?
-
BTW, they did beautifully at UIL
-
I have it on good authority that that's not what happened. They were planning on heading back to Waco
-
I’m proud of Hendrickson. They are gonna try and do BOA, then head to UIL later this afternoon. I hope they make finals to head back to Waco! SO MUCH FUN!
-
They will. Them not going is all about short notice. When they went to Disney last year, we got 6 months notice to raise the funds. There is no way that some parents would be able to fork up $1500 in cash in two months. Next year is a no go for them because of State. With how high WW rates their academics, parents would literally pull their kids out of band because they would miss too much school

MFA asked Westwood to come to grand nats after Austin. Then asked again after Houston. There is no way that we could raise those kinds of funds to go. $400,000 is just a lot of money.

2020-2022 UIL Realignment

Leander should have petitioned to be smaller if it was a 10 kid difference. Although, I think you can only do that if its for transportation purposes. -

Thank you. I get that no one believes that this band is as good as the judges seem to think we are. And I hate the thought that, as a result, other bands get discounted. -

Again, I sit back and wonder what some of the predictions you are making. Some of the bands haven’t even placed in regionals yet they are locks or bubble bands for finals? I suspect that there will be surprises like we have seen so far this season. -

Our two shows had one thing in common-relatability. We all really enjoyed it and and look forward to seeing it again in San Antonio -

Different set of judges New part of the show Are you saying that Westwood didn’t deserve 2nd place in prelims? -

If you had asked the directors of Westwood what they envisioned this year to be for them, they would have said, “to be closer.” This is a dream season for them so far. So happy for these seniors. -

Woodlands got 3rd. Westwood got 2nd. Our kids are in shock.
