This is the biggest reason I am making the long drive down to San Antonio this year a few days early. I refuse to pay the NFHS network another dime to watch marching band. I will be there in person this year! 6A and 5A!

CTJ will be in there. Pearland will be higher. Hebron’s biggest drawback this year is that a big number of their All State kiddos graduated. Granted they still have tons, so they’ll be ok. 😁

Absolutely. They are going to be tremendously difficult to beat this year! I love Avon but I honestly never for a moment this weekend felt like any part of their show was better than Carmel. I had Carmel sweeping the whole thing and nobody could convince me otherwise. Looks like the judges in finals agreed! And this isn’t easy for me to say, believe me!! 🤣 Come on Hebron and the Woodlands, don’t get cocky. You absolutely MUST bring your very best performance to finals that Saturday night!!

This Carmel show is quite incredible. They swept every caption in finals, deservedly so IMO. Texas is going to have to bring it, y’all! Perhaps Hebron knew it was going to be like this this year, so that’s why we won’t see them for over a week between 6A state and GN. I bet they do something crazy and unexpected at GN that we won’t see at UIL. 😜

Does that incredible taco and hamburger place still exist in that convenience store just north of Vista Ridge? EDIT: adding this…if y’all want some incredible and easy to grab non fast food between prelims and finals, go south from the stadium instead of north, turn left and go a little bit east on Brushy Creek to Cedar Pork. It’s a food truck area with incredible bbq, burgers and TexMex options very close to Gupton and it’s beyond good! The address is 2301 Brushy Creek.

Still deciding if I am going to come down early for 6A state or watch it online. 🥴

It’s actually 24 total. If we had just gotten ONE more band to Area, we could have taken 5 bands to state!

Maybe I’m blind but I don’t see a topic for 5A Area H. I mean it’s not like the state medalists don’t usually come from this area or anything. 🤪 Good luck to all of the Area H Class 5A Marching Bands and your contest on October 28 at D.W. Rutledge Stadium, Judson ISD, Converse TX!
