I’m going to copy and paste my other post here into this thread as well because it’s so important!! Friends we need to BAND TOGETHER and ask UIL to allow the SMBC to be streamed by a service that is more Band friendly and not so much Football friendly! Oh my goodness has the state of Texas not PROVEN to UIL that our marching bands are absolutely incredible? This is shameful to me that a FOOTBALL streaming service is allowed first right of refusal over services like Box5 or FloMarching who SPECIALIZE in streaming marching bands! I’m so aggravated by this. It’s an insult to our great marching bands, honestly. They deserve better. Having said all that, PLEASE direct your streaming complaints directly to music@uiltexas.org. Please, please, please!!!!

I just revised the schedule in the original post to include the new changes made by BOA to Friday’s schedule.

I wish I could stay another few days! 🥰 I’m definitely going to be at BOA SA. I’ll have to catch state from my living room.

Here’s the link for the service that is streaming all of the state marching contests next week. https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/states/tx You will have to scroll down past the sports and in the Event section you can choose “sport” and then scroll all the way down to “band competition.” Then you can choose which ones to watch. Yes, it’s a pain to get to, but it’s only $11.99 for a month. Let’s hope they do a decent job covering it. 🥺

Unfortunately Box5TV is not covering the streaming for this event this year because the NFHS network evidently has the first right of refusal for UIL events. Evidently this year the football streaming service has decided to actually cover the Texas SMBC. Top 11 from each panel regardless of class move on. Then the next 8 overall move on, regardless of class. After those 30 are determined, if there are not 2 from each class from each panel advancing, additional bands advance to fill out that representation.

The panels changed a bit as well.

Yes. Marian Catholic and John Hardin are out and the schedule was revised around that.
