How to balance 6 college classes with band
LeanderMomma replied to MadisonBandMan1's topic in General Off-Topic
My daughter did it and it made her a Sophomore in college at the beginning of her second semester. You can do it!! -
We have our own Palace right next door to Leander HS. Bible Sradium is a very nice LISD stadium!

Who’s field?!

Most definitely Leander’s trip to Grand Nats in 2016. Experiencing that Lucas Oil stadium and just the whole GN environment was something I’ll not soon forget!

Not FloMo and not Hebron? How bout LD Bell? -
Geez I can’t even remember exactly how I got here. It was most likely from meeting Daniel Sanchez (Xenon) at BOA Austin in 2015 and finding out what he does. He was live blogging for TXBands, and a fellow band mom friend and I sat at the top of the stands directly in front of him 2 years in a row. We enjoyed a lot of great band conversation with him. And I’ll still never forget how excited he got when Leander won in 2015 with NO captions. At the time I don’t realize how unusual that really was! I’ve learned a lot about the current marching band world from Daniel and from this forum. And I credit both for much of my current enthusiasm!

Yes I can see how my daughter messed up, but I don’t get how it took so long for her to figure that out. I remember her calling and saying, “mom, I see a sign that says Shreveport LA is 20 miles away (or however far it was), did I make a wrong turn somewhere?” Ha, I was like, “well considering the fact you should have been in Austin 2 hours ago, and we don’t live anywhere near Shreveport, I’d say you definitely missed a turn!” Poor baby. That was before GPS and Google Maps guided us everywhere on our cells, but still! And on your scary, rainy drive that night in downtown Houston? I still get super stressed in those situations even at my age. I bet your mother was a nervous wreck until you got home! -

Yes, maybe I should have her checked out, good point. She goes back to Texas State tomorrow though, so I just wasn't sure what to do. Maybe I'll have her make an appointment for tomorrow with her doc before she leaves. Thank you for sharing your story and recommending it. I admit that I have shed many tears over just the fact my car is totaled. (and probably a delayed stress reaction over the whole situation!) I LOVED that silly car! It was a 2012 Nissan Altima, fully loaded and with THE sweetest stereo system you can imagine. She was a great car and I am just heartbroken over trying to replace it. But I am oh so grateful for how well she took care of my baby girl in that wreck last night. The airbags did deploy and the entire front end of my car is obliterated, so there's no fixing it. But I'm ever so relieved that my baby girl is okay. Cars can be replaced! -

Yes, and it IS confusing since you do have to actually stop and make a left hand turn in Hearne to continue on to 79 West, yet if you keep going straight, you are STILL on 79, you are just headed East. I do get that it's very confusing. What I didn't understand was how she went that many miles out of the way before realizing she had made a mistake! Did she not look at ANY of the road signs after Hearne where none of them mentioned Austin? -

sounds like a legit answer to me. Just sad for them not to be performing in their own BOA. -

Oh my, I bet that WAS quite a journey! I remember getting a phone call once from my now 30 year old when she was a fairly new 18 year old driver. She called me from somewhere near the Louisiana state line. Turns out, she was trying to come home from College Station and she missed the turn off in Hearne and ended up at I-20 near the Louisiana state line. I still don't know how she got so far without realizing she was going the wrong way!!! -

She's sore all over and upset at totaling my car, but we are all just so grateful she's okay because it was quite a serious 4 car accident. It's so scary letting your kids drive in Austin, let me tell ya. I can't imagine having one drive in the DFW or Houston area!!!! And you know it on the listening on repeat...I have already listened again twice. It takes me awhile to take information in so I have to listen several times...cuz you know...SQUIRREL!!
