Agreed, Whitesboro has a good chance at making Semis as a Class A Representative if they work hard and bring a good program like last year.

Whitesboro is the current reigning UIL 3A State Marching Champion and had a fantastic show last year that fits in the BOA style quite well.

2016 6A State Predictions

In the largest conference, Westfield did 3 consecutive over 3 years in the 80s and Spring and Westfield both did 2 consecutive over 4 years in the 90s. Marcus' 5 consecutive over 10 years is completely unprecedented. -

2016 TMEA Honor Band
Xenon replied to Xenon's topic in Everything Music: Marching, Concert, Auditions and more
Of note, I call this the 2016 TMEA Honor Band competition, but it is really the selection process for the TMEA Honor Band performances at the 2017 TMEA Convention. Even though the performance for the selection process is from the 2015-2016 school year and the competition/listenings/selection happen in 2016, the end result is which band will perform at the 2017 TMEA Convention during the 2016-2017 school year. It all gets really confusing, but that is why the 5A results listed above say they are for the "2016 5A Honor Band" even though the selection happened in 2015 from performances from the 2014-2015 school year.... -

UIL State Marching is every other school year and in the opposite school years there is the TMEA State Honor Band process. Bands submit a CD with three pieces recorded throughout the Spring. Two bands from every region get to advance to Area and two bands from each Area get to advance to State. Two twists; 1) the current reigning State Honor Band is not allowed to compete 2) in order to compete, the director must also be the director for the next school year. In general, results can be found at: https://www.tmea.org/divisions-regions/band/honor-band/entry-list State Listening at TBA Convention in San Antonio: 07/21/2016 Here is a list of all of the bands that are currently listed as Advance to State. TMEA State Honor Bands: 1C: Mineola 1A/2A: New Deal 4A: China Spring 6A: Lopez State Qualifiers: 1C: A - Littlefield A - Lorenzo de Zavala B - Crane B - Sonora C - Mineola C - New Boston D - Florence D - Travis Academy E - Jourdanton E - Randolph F - Kountze F - Little Cypress-Mauriceville 1A/2A: A - Canadian A - Forsan A - New Deal C - Knox City C - Olney D - Holland D - Somerville F - Carlisle F - San Augustine F - Union Grove G - Ganado 4A: A - Argyle A - Reedy B - Alvarado B - Kennedale C - Anna C - Canton D - Cleveland D - China Spring E - Bellville E - Fredericksburg F - Bridge City F - Little Cypress-Mauriceville G - Grulla G - Port Isabel 6A: A - Flower Mound A - Keller Central B - Arlington Martin B - Richland C - Plano East C - Plano West D - Oak Ridge D - Spring E - Langham Creek E - Ronald Reagan F - Brazoswood F - Friendswood G - Brownsville G - Clements -
This could be the most competitive Grand Nationals ever, not to mention all of the TX (Super)Regionals are incredibly deeply stacked. I have 22 bands in my list of those that could potentially compete for GN Finals just based on their history. And that doesn't even count up-and-comers that could turn on the heat and give us some awesome new blood. The 2015 UIL 3A State Champion Whitesboro definitely has a great shot at making GN Semis, especially as one of the Class Representation advancers in the very competitive BOA Class A. I also wouldn't be surprised at all if all 5 of the other TX bands make GN Finals, although it is going to be *extremely* tight. There are only so many available slots. If at any point a band with a slot decides they can't attend, the next band on the waitlist gets an opportunity to take that spot. Often, this would be because of scheduling conflicts of some sort, like a weekend football game, SAT, Homecoming, etc. Normally, this is all worked out before the start of the season.

Fall HS Marching Shows 2016

That is a really well produced video! -
The downtown and southern parts of San Antonio and out towards the West were taken out of 6A Area G and are now in the new 6A Area H with Leander ISD and Lake Travis ISD. This will make it hard on O'Connor any time there are a significant number of 6A Leander ISD schools. In trade for Leander ISD leaving, 6A Area D picked up Cy-Fair ISD.
