That was the first time I had ever seen backdrops like those. Really, 2000 is my favorite entire year of Finals.

Yup, no Forsan. I had them in my Finals predictions, but they didn't make it. Prelims rankings haven't been published yet.

BOA San Antonio- Weather/Warm Up
Xenon replied to YBW's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
There is no rat. Bowie would have been unable to make the travel in the morning, so they put in for the random slot draw along with all the other Austin area bands. They just happened to pull a workable time slot. -
New schedule is available at: http://www.musicforall.org/what-we-do/boa-marching-championships/regionals/san-antonio-super-regional Starts at 7:30am with Mansfield. Dripping Springs, Hendrickson, and Leander are all scheduled later in the day as Tentative Exhibition performances. None of those three bands could make the trip early enough to perform in the first block. Notice that the rest of the blocks have 12 competing bands in them; that is 3 hours straight of performances. MFA is legally and morally obligated to provide a break for their judges and staff after 3 hours of continuous work, so it is not possible to fit more than 12 bands per block. As such, there were only two further possible options, both of which were exhausted: 1) Add another break at 4:45 and have another block go from 5:15 through 6:15, and then push finals back over 1.5 hours later at a minimum or just not having Finals. 2) Get some other 2nd/3rd block scheduled band to perform during the 1st block. The problem here is that it is nearly impossible from a logistics standpoint for a band to call up kids and parents and buses (that aren't already gathered) late in the evening and coordinate getting them all together at 4-5am instead of their planned 10am-12pm. This is infinitely easier (though still not easy at all) for the bands that are already gathered .

2015 BOA San Antonio Predictions

Yes, they did, as I have repeatedly stated. I personally heard Eric Martin asking directors if there was any logistical way for them to take the early spots. This kind of logistics change is just not easy. Please stop demeaning Music For All without understanding what all has been done and attempted by everyone involved. -

Leander very likely wants to get a run in the dome for the kids so they can experience how their show sounds in there and not get freaked out with the different reverb characteristics during State. -
2015 BOA San Antonio Predictions

BOA is working *extremely* hard to try and get all of this worked out. Eric Martin (CEO) has personally been on the phone with band directors all day long trying to find any option that works. Edit: And not just on the phone with the immediately affected bands, but also with all the other bands trying to see if they can possibly take the earlier slots to free up the later ones. -

That is the old Saturday schedule that is still the currently published schedule. BOA is still trying to finalize things for tomorrow and should hopefully have a new schedule soon. -

Adding 7 slots to the end of the competition would make finals go until 1am or later. Prelims was already scheduled to start at 7:15am, so 2 slots before that is not horrible. -
2015 BOA San Antonio Predictions
Xenon replied to guardgirl17's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
I have absolute confirmation from BOA staff that ALL 7 bands have been offered slots on Saturday. Slots range from 6:45am to 4:30pm. As to whether the bands accept those slots, that is up to the band and the district. -

It's bandamonium down here. -
That is only partially true. Word from BOA staff is that they are finding Saturday spots for each of the bands that are still trying to come down. Those bands are drawing for which spot they get. No bands that want to and are able to come will be left out.

Cedar Park was actually stuck at a school along 130; unable to get to SA and also couldn't get back home.
