I have heard that FMHS show this year will POP!

I don't think any of the LISD (Lewisville) bands have been able to perform at the games. I know Flower Mound HS hasn't.

My favorite band memory (as a band parent) is the 2014 Grand Nationals. Both of my kids were in the band (daughter was a senior clarinet and section leader and son was a freshman marching trombone {he played trumpet and was a props team member but they had too many late season holes in the trombone line so he leaned the basics of the 3rd part trombone, his first event to march was prelims of BOA SA}) my wife was a chaperone and I was the supportive dad spectator. This was our first ever experience with Grand Nationals. We made finals and were over the moon. This is where my favorite memory comes in, during Finals, I was in the lower bowl, mid-fields about 20 rows back and could easily make out the faces of each performer on the field. Early on I saw my son's face and he was working, focused, and doing his job, he still has his entire high school career in front of him. A bit later on, right after the big solo I see my daughter. Focused, but I could tell she was starting to get emotional, this was her last ever marching event and they left it all on the field. I was bawling like a baby in the stands. After the last note, I saw the drum major lose it, most of the other seniors got emotional too. I still get teary-eyed thinking about this.

I recently found out that Flower Mound is performing on Friday prelims this year. That will be new.

I am surprised that there hasn't been any discussion on here of the recent calendar change by LISD. They recently voted to have school start on Aug. 15, two weeks earlier than the traditional Aug. 27th. With UIL rules that do not allow for practice before Aug 1. and the "eight hour rule" once school starts, I wonder how much this decision will impact the LISD bands? Also, there is nearly a week of professional learning days that teachers must attend prior to the start of the school year, this could cut instruction time down just over one week before school starts. I'm thinking BA, Carmel, Avon, Marcus, FloMo, The Woodlands,. GE: BA Visual: Carmel Music: Marcus What an amazing last half of finals! Cool side note: Flower Mound hosted Avon for dinner when Avon was en route to San Antonio. The bands along with members of Marcus became friends. Flower Mound, Marcus, and Avon will be next to each other when they break ranks. Should be a great time.

Flower Mound, Marcus, and The Woodlands are pretty much locks. I think Churchill and Round Rock will be just on the outside looking in, but close

We have a watch party going on at our house this morning. Had a breakfast casserole, coffee, muffins, and MOJO! Half a dozen crazy alumni band parents watching the early am show.
