Has anyone seen anything they can report on from games or parent previews? Not much being said about any of these bands shows. I am going to see the Marcus Hebron game next Friday but haven't been able to get out to any other games so far. Does anyone have any insight into any of these bands shows? Sounds like some great shows are happenning outside of the DFW area. I hope north Texas has some as well. Should be a great competition!!!

I agree with the most bands but is this the order you think they will place? And there are a couple of bands that may sneak in there if so. This will be a great regional to see.

Awesome!!! I am happy to see them perform up here. I love that band. They are going to have to leave at 2am. Then perform in finals after 6pm. That's a long day. BOA couldn't give them a later time? That stinks. Any insight on why they would do that? Aren't there regionals closer to them?

Are we sure Austin Bowie is competing in BOA Plano? Last year it was Arlington Bowie if I recall right. if Austin Bowie that would mean they would have to leave way early or get there the night before. If it is Austin Bowie you would think they would perform much later. That's not right to make them play that early if it is Austin Bowie. I would be surprised if it is.

Can Flomo take state? Yes. Will it be easy? No. Marcus and Hebron are pretty dominant the last two state years. Flomo had an outstanding season last year. But Johnson, Reagan, the Woodands, Copell, Keller, Duncanville, etc also had great years. What happened last year doesn't mean anything this year. I hope Flomo has another great year and it would be great to see them win state. In Texas that is a tough feat given all of the outstanding bands capable of doing great things. I still have Marcus and Hebron taking gold and silver but after witnessing the last two years nothing would surprise me. The first football games are right around the corner. Sooooo?????? UIL 6A state predictions?? Two sided coin. It woul be cool to see someone dethrone Marcus at state. I think a few bands have a shot. Hebron being the front runner but not the only one. On the other side it would be cool to see Marcus win for a 6th time. Love them or hate them, they OWN Texas UIL State. Has any other band, anywhere, come close to that record? Do other States have a State championship like Texas? I am not saying other states are not as good, I am asking if there has been another band in any other state as dominant in music as Marcus has been. My prediction is either Hebron or Marcus takes it. Would love to see any other band take it as well.

I thought they were going to take it this year. I agree next year will be a great Texas representation at Grand Nat's! Only 6 more months until the start of the season.

Conroe should be a good one to see for an early competition. A lot of great bands. Interested to see the Dallas regional as well. Always a battle. Lately there is no sure thing in that one. LISD is a battle in itself, then add a bunch of incredible other bands who could make a run for first and who knows? Every regional is getting so competitive with not just a couple of bands competing for first. San Antonio gets crazier and crazier every year.

This will be fun to watch. I think Marcus and Hebron are the front runners but anything can happen. If I had to choose I would go with Marcus because I think they will be ahead in a more developed show. I get the feeling Hebron is building slowly because of Grand Nat's. Although at TOC they sounded great with just the opener and ballad. I have only seen Marcus at a football game but they sounded great as usual. Having said that anything could happen with Round Rock, Flomo, Bell, Coppell and a couple of others who could make a run. Nothing will surprise me at this one. I am looking forward to it!! I agree but if you want to get better wouldn't you want to compete with the best? Texas is tough competition but why go outside the state, spend the money, to compete with other bands?? Not saying Texas has the best bands but they are some of the best. If you take a band to Indy, take them to the big show. Win or lose they still win with the experience. Just my two cents. Richland is a great band. They should set their sights on grand Nats rather then out of state regionals. (Which they will do well in) IMO

Why go to Indy Super Regional. Would they still go to San Antonio? Why spend the money at a regional? Why not just go to grand nats ??

What about captions? Flomo got GE and Marcus got music I think. Do those stay the same?

I do not disagree with anything you said. But that 28 could have knocked Johnson out of finals. It didn't but could have. You are right life is not fair but....one judges opinion having the ability to do that isn't right either. I am not a Johnson homer but if they didn't make finals because of one judge they couldn't have medaled in finals and that would have been wrong. Regardless of who it affects it needs to be fixed or adjusted. Signed, No solution....

First off I think the judges are amazing and am not bashing them in any way. But I do agree there is a problem. I understand judges will never completely agree in placements/scores. This year in both BOA and UIL there seemed to be one judge that completely disagreed with the other two. Not just slightly but "not in the same ballpark" disagree. I can understand if a judge is 5-10 different but more then that doesn't make sense. I assume the 1,1,12 reference was Hebron's music scores. How do two judges feel Hebron had the best musical performance and the other one think there were 11 bands better? And again I can understand 1,1,5 or 1,1,8 or even 1,1,10 but it gets to a point of ridiculous, 1,1,12. CTJ 28th in visual? How is that possible? I could not judge if you held a gun to my head but something needs to change when one judge can tank a schools efforts. There needs to be some kind of check and balance for these competitions. I don't have the solution so I may be part of the problem but there is a serious issue. Once again I think the judges are amazing and do a great job. There just needs to be some criteria for mor consistent scoring. Congrats to all bands, finalists and medal winners. My opinions have nothing to do with placements. All were well deserved!!! What a year for Texas bands!!!

You guys are great! I loved you show last year. I still go back and watch that trumpet duet on the bridge. Outstanding!! Great show this year as well. Don't get down on your program. Keep doing what your doing because it is working!!!

Rubisco I don't think I have seen your final predictions. You were spot on last year. What are your thoughts this year? And no I don't want them Sunday. Let's hear it.

First off why the Bell bashing? They came in 5th in, arguably, one of the toughest areas there is in the state. I thought their show was awesome. Second Flomo took third so saying they are on Flomo's level would mean they are even with the third best band in area B. Great program, great band. Bands have good years and not so good years. Their design and execution is great. I will say they are more geared towards BOA and am looking forward to seeing them there this weekend. Good luck to all bands!!!!

Wow that is interesting that in finals j4 thought all bands were 170 pts lower then Marcus and j5 thought all bands were 20 pts lower at least. I do not understand uil scoring but that is interesting. Not sure what it means but interesting none the less.
