  1. When it comes to judging you have to realize that judges all see different things. One might be blown away by an amazing woodwind run or a beautiful solo and another might be shocked by a late entrance or a stick out player. Don't ever accuse a judge of slamming a band. Not at this contest in this business.
  2. Hebron isn't flying they never have and never will. They will leave their football game and head down after halftime. I will say the last time Hebron was in the first block was 2011 the only time the band hasn't placed in finals in the last decade. That year also has a dozen non playing marchers, a drill writer that virtually screwed the program, and several other inside issues. That was a different time. All Hebron needs is to make finals and based on what they've shown from the start and Denton to Saturday at Area B they can take it. Also being happy a band is earlier in the rankings so they tend to score lower is kinda sad. I've always liked seeing bands (the Hebron Marcus Bell trio) battle it out. It's more entertaining.
  3. I'm gonna go out there and say that Flower Mound can move up to the top. They had it in 2012 but couldn't make it out of the fist fight of area B. LISD is ready to take the entire podium back to north Texas and Bowie and CTJ are the threats.
  4. It's not the first time director Andy Sealy chose location over competition. He did it in 2008 and used to take Hebron to Carrollton's TOC for extra field time. Area B is an insanely hard competition to qualify to state and I think even though Hebron is heavily favored he wants the extra edge to remain to go down to San Antonio as the area champion.
  5. I feel like flo mo isn't getting enough credit this year. They missed state in 2012 by 1 and they want to take their band all the way. To be honest the top 7 from area B are all finalist bands. This LISD 6A power house trio is gonna come storming out of North Texas and I think they have the ability to repeat Denton if they keep it up. I'm saying Hebron Marcus Bell Woodlands and Flo Mo top 5.
  6. "Unfortunately, Area B only has 25 total 6A bands in the whole area. Assuming that at least one of them will get a 2 at Region, you're looking at likely only 4 bands moving on to state out of B. And, we must hope that at least 20 of those 25 get a division 1 at Region to preserve that. I think Marcus and Hebron are the likely locks in Area B, so that means the other 2 will probably come from some combination of: LD Bell, Plano East, Flower Mound, Richland, Haltom, Mansfield, or Martin. Good grief! That contest will be brutal." There hasn't been a division 2 from any of these bands for quite some time. Honestly my money is on the LISD power house of flo mo Marcus and Hebron along with Bell. The fifth either being Plano East or Richland. I would say getting to state out of area B is the hardest thing a band in Texas can do.
  7. Ok guys I'll start it off. With a new classification these powerhouse schools have more to fight for. It's gonna be a blood bath in San Antonio this year. Will Marcus keep its title and set another record? Will it's sister school down in Carrollton take its first championship and prove to Texas Hebron is the best? Will the band from Hurst come back and once again be the mighty L. D. Bell it once was? Or will The Woodlands continue its victory from last year and take it all home. 10 finalists fighting for the Title of State Champion. Thoughts?
