  1. Rock's guard is A Class now for what it's worth. I think Hebron's might be too.
  2. CTJ -1 Reagan +1 CT Johnson 13 Flower Mound 15 Hebron 14 Hendrickson 8 Keller 18 Leander 15 Ronald Reagan 7 The Woodlands 17 Vandegrift 9 Vista Ridge 11
  3. That would be unprecedented (except for, obviously, the first couple GNs).
  4. One big worry is that high school color guards in marching season have come a long way still since SFA's heyday. And not to knock Vandegrift's dance team at all, but they aren't Angels level (yet). They can get away with it in Texas, and have. I'm not sure what it will look like at GN, but Vandegrift's excellence in marching and movement from a band perspective is certainly enough to keep their VGE scores afloat.
  5. Are we talking current streaks, or longest streak regardless of activity?
  6. I heard through the grapevine that Vandegrift is official.
  7. Reagan also missed in 2008, which makes their streak short. You all are missing Harlingen, who has a healthier and longer streak than many.
  8. Wait, this coming fall is 2019?
  9. Two is at or actually above Leander's average in the last fifteen years, and about average since 2010.
  10. I’ve thought for a long while that they should add a second 5A ensemble. It’s absolutely harder to make State in 5A than 6A now on a few instruments because there’s no room for error at all.
  11. I would say CTJ has a very strong chance of winning, but it 100% depends on the energy they bring. Of the bands heading to Indy, only they and perhaps Leander can keep things competitive in the visual caption. A good CTJ show is also a GE monster, so we'll see.
  12. Glenn actually has seniors this year, albeit not too many.
  13. I would be very shocked if Friendswood does not end up in State Finals. Pflugerville looks quite likely too. Quite honestly, the Austin area will probably sweep medals again, and will probably add two or three more bands to the mix. Glenn will be in 5A this time around. It will be their second year with a full slate of students, and the first with completely homegrown seniors. It'll be interesting to see what they bring.
  14. A Marcus ladybug ran over a judge at San Antonio in 2007.
  15. Wakeland will assuredly make State Finals.
  16. Just Hebron, CTJ, Leander, The Woodlands, and Round Rock.
  17. I think the fact that this happened speaks to UIL's shortcomings on a few fronts. Vista Ridge won, Followed by I think Vandegrift and Cedar Park. Connally was fourth. Finding Balance is a show that would have made Westwood a BOA Finalist, and I say that with the highest confidence. I think a tie-breaker rule similar to BOA for advancement would be a good move. I personally cannot wait for Timber Creek to make it to the SMBC. It wouldn't shock me at all if they also made finals their first go-round. I don't think a single band, barring perhaps Prosper, is improving at their pace right now. It's not Cedar Ridge/CTJ/Vandegrift levels of lightning fast, but their dedicated and steady year on year improvement in its own way might be more impressive. Consider me one of their biggest fans right now.
  18. TC and Seven Lakes are my two to make it in next year. Hoping for greatness from both this year!
  19. Oh, you looked at the San Antonio Super Regional even before it became the late season regional / super regional. In that case, no band has made finals every single year.
  20. Timber Creek is also a Triangle band, and they also comfortably made finals at Bedford this year. And I meant the more expansive view. Even bands that don’t necessarily medal at the more established regionals are going for lower hanging fruit in Midland and McAllen and I want a band actually from the region itself to top them.
  21. Bands get reassigned every year as applicable. The cutoff realignments happen every three years.
  22. Weiss should be AAA. Their school size this year was in the 1600-1700 neighborhood.
  23. The buzz leans toward Vandegrift going, but nothing is certain until April (or really, Thursday or Friday prelims).
