omg y'all are right. those WERE judges who were wildin'. i subconsciously wrote them off as eager guard parents supportin' their girlies LMAO.6 points -
Thank you so much! I've been starving! Also, look at the equipment and movement judges flipping out over TWHS World in that video. Wow! đCan't say I blame them. Judges are just about the biggest fans of the activity, after all. đ I've only watched a couple of the Opens, but I'm already confused by the scoring, I will admit. Pearland has a wonderful show!5 points

https://m.youtube.com/@ThrowawayGuard here's an account w/ all the vids i got from Pearland tonite, since i had issues w/ the other ones.5 points -
yeah, smh at all of this. Pearland is the real deal imo, and should have easily won tonite. how do you go from a 79.5 in GE in wgi to a 56.5 a week later?!!! 78 in DA to a 57.5?!! woodlands A also should have won tonite, but that gap is lil less egregious, and Tomball has fab individual performers. woodlands world also weird downstairs/upstairs split. 87 in equipment, 85 in movement, then upstairs very low 70s bringing the score way down. again, my opinion = underscored. upstairs should have all been 83+. heck, they got a lower DA score tonite than longtime WGI judge Eric Kitchenmen gave em three weeks ago!! for the record, i thought both Pearland and Woodlands World were better than any of the scholastic opens and worlds i watched via the Indianapolis stream. make of that what u will...đ5 points

They really do âtake offâ, donât they?! Lol.3 points -
well i'm real happy i actually attended the Pearland contest, bc i would have been suuuuper curious about wtf happened. the correct answer is that the judges had a really, REALLY off night tonite, esp the upstairs ones i sat right next to. none of em are active wgi judges, which prob does have something to do w/ it, bc the scores are soooo disconnected from what happened just a week ago in WGI. does kinda call into question tcgc's credibility here, when they use the same sheets. it is what it is i guess. u take who you can get, esp when there are 6 WGI regionals going on the same weekend!! TL;DR - Classic TCGC Twilight Zone judging3 points

Not super surprised Warren beat Carmel. Rough run from Carmel, plus a noticeable hole in their weapon line, but I really like Carmelâs show. I hope they beef up the ending though, could do something cooler with the props maybe.2 points

I haven't finished watching The Woodlands yet, but I have NEVER seen judges flip out and stand up during a performance! I just love their show this year!2 points

In other exciting news around the country today, WGI Tampa had some surprising results in Scholastic World! 1. 80.600 - Flanagan HS, FL 2. 80.200 - Tarpon Springs HS, FL2 points -
Some major shift ups in SO at TCGC Pearland, huge point drops from WGI New Braunfels last week and Cy-Fair comes out on top over Clear Brook, Pearland, and Dawson. WGI NB- Pearland- 78.75 (1st) Cy-Fair- 75.00 (3rd) TCGC Pearland- Cy-Fair- 67.6 (1st) -7.4 Pearland- 65.5 (3rd) -13.25 There is usually a difference between TCGC and WGI scoring and of course you cannot compare contest to contest, I just thought the massive change in both scores and placement was interesting. There also was a judge missing at NB but that doesnât usually have a huge effect on score. Itâs gonna be an interesting season, especially going into WGI Austin next week, exciting! Canât wait to see how things turn out in all classes for our Team Texas guards! @packwick would love to hear ur analysis going into WGI Austin!2 points

I did a little more research and found that it was due to a controversy over content in the 2025 show. Bottom line, I think they are tired of winning and it has no value to them. If it's not worth the effort to choose different content to be able to compete, then they just don't want it.1 point -
Wylie HS had a great night too with all 3 guards (Junior/JV/Varsity) winning their respective divisions.1 point
