bandgeekofthecentury
Today is my one free day, so I've been spamming the forums, but YEAAA TUBAS!!!! I'm one of the Seven Lakes tubas and we're a little short on tubas this year, so we brought in 3 trombone/baritones, but WE STILL KICK BUTT!!!!! I really enjoyed it and was excited to see it twice yesterday. Really loved that Bohemian Rhapsody opener in particular but it was just a beautiful show all around. Stefen
CALLING ALL TUBAS- At my school this year we have a pretty good tuba line. But, I will never settle. Does anyone have any tips or anything on how to improve a tuba line. Thanks
gregorydf01
Take a look at the Vista Ridge Tuba Line on the State Finals Video -Link:  .  VR had the Tubas moving around like they were holding trumpets. They were running, spinning dancing and moving through most of the show.  Look at sections 2:37 to 4:17 and 6:05 to 7:06  for good examples.  It's a bulky, heavy instrument but these kids were moving and hauling with them!!  My tip would be to not let anyone tell you it can't be done. tubaboom44
Biggest tuba section yall have ever seen? I think my school may set a record for 5a schools this year with
J-Mike16
I think my school will also set a record for 4A schools with 17.
Stefen
Wow I'm at a 6a school and were most likely just gonna have 10.
J-Mike16
last year, my band had 12 but only 10 marched. This year, they have 9 incoming freshmen tuba players. I doubt all 17 will be in the show but you never know. the band in general is just gonna be bigger and hopefully better. takigan
I've seen 6A bands with over 350 kids where the director has been like "We have 16 tubas this year, which is more than we've had for awhile, so that'll be nice". I was teaching lessons at Huntsville in 2013 when they had 18 Tubas signed up, and that was mighty impressive since it was only about 195 kids in the band. 17 made it to 1st day of school and they marched 16 for UIL. That was a mid-sized 5A. (EDIT: Getting my years mixed up, but 2013 was the right year). But 4A? darn... J-Mike16
yeah thats insane. like i said there are 17 signed up for next year but i wont be surprise if 1 or 2 quit bc of some reason.

MadisonBandMan1
Well if I remember correctly their enrollment in the band program last year was somewhere around 345 so close enough Leandermomma  We just appreciate our marching arts here in NEISD. We have three programs with over 320 students enrolled.
