Why don’t we just pray that it only rains in the middle of the night from now on. It’s a compromise.ither nature can still give us our rain ale hope we get our performances.

Sheesh San Antonio is on track to have the wettest month in history. We on average get only an inch and a half of rain during the month of September here, and we could end up with 20 inches before it’s all said and done.

I’m excited to see how this competion plays out because at this point there are a lot of unknowns. Will Marcus maintain their previous level of success? Losing such an influential Director and staff is bound to have some sort of negative affect. Right? Only time will tell. Will Haltom live up to the pre-season hype? Will Keller build on their success from last year? The band has been consistently improving every year for a few years now so it’s only safe to assume they will be even better this year. How will Prosper be considering they are the only Texas band attending Nationals this year?

My gut feeling says that Keller could win this competition. In the past I feel as if they have stuggled bringing a show that is technically clean (especially early in the season) and has strong GE, hence their greater success at UIL bases events. But something tells me that they are going to bring a full package this year that could be pretty unstoppable.

It's still hard for me to put Keller over Marcus because Marcus is Marcus. But I really do feel like Keller is going to do good this year. I am also really excited about all of the unkowns for this competition. I'll be happy with whatever happens and can't wait to see what will come of it.

I think there are 7 bands that could take the last 4 spots: Allen, Berkner, Boswell, Forney, Lake Ridge, Mansfield, and The Colony. Since Mansfield won't be competing in finals (they are going to Midlothian from what was stated somewhere else) I think the last 4 in finals will be Berkner, Forney, Lake Ridge, and The Colony.

This will be a great contest!

I really think Boswell will squeeze in

Anybody know what happened to Berkner? Only a few years ago they were finalists in BOA.

Boswell is great. I always enjoyed seeing their shows at local competitions when I was in high school. I am just not as familiar with their program as of late. I think Berkner has just had a bit of a priority shift. From my understanding, their concert band is still very good.

I got to see their 2016 show at BOA Plano and UIL State and really enjoyed it. They made Finals at BOA Midland last year, earning 8th place, and are signed up for BOA Waco this year. I fully expect to see them in finals here at HEB.

One of my sons and daughters friends that still in high school told them that Haltom is only playing the first 4 movement Saturday because the front ensemble just got the music 2 act 5 today . So sad now

They would be the only band with a full show there if they did but they’ll for sure have it next time

That does bring up an interesting question, is it better for a band to rush learn a show and clean later, or learn slowly?

My opinion is if they have all the show on the feel early they have a lot more time to clean and perfect and add and fix things through your the season while the slow learners try to do it with little time . So learning more is best tbh. Take ctj last year . They learned the whole show for there first boa and had a lot of time to clean and perfect and came out on top at boa Sam Antonio

I agree completely and due to that Claudia holds the highest score of all time at a super regional

Putting The Colony over Forney is a mistake, imo. I'm biased though.

there are more finals-worthy bands here than there are finals spots. I see both of these bands in- i do think Forney has been the stronger program the last several years, but The Colony was top 5 at this contest last year, handily topping Keller Central and Timber Creek. We'll see
