  1. The trombonist is 4-year All State Jazz - it was this past week
  2. Another interesting one along with CA is FL. Population is somewhere around 21M and none in finals - Tarpon would be the top competitor, with Park Vista behind them. I don’t think the argument holds up, though. A point could be made by comparing the nearly equal populations in that grouping of states vs TX, TX just has the better bands, and an amazing depth. It’s just how it is. Congrats to all finalists and Im rooting for our 6-pack! Bring it home!
  3. I don't know what they have (I live in DFW, don't get to see them often) but I don't think there's a section for equipment specifically.
  4. I will say in BOA (I think this is how it works) visual effect is judged and I'm pretty sure it includes guard, visuals, and the regular forms and marching. In UIL, the sheets only judge marching technique and forms. I may be wrong but I think I'm on the right track. Side note - I watched your show last night and ya'll sound great.
  5. That link states that with 40 or more, 14 would advance to finals. In 2016, there were 40 yet only 12 were in finals. I don't know what will be the case, but I'm leaning towards 10 being in finals this year.
  6. If 24 advanced to Area, 4 will advance to state. It is 1 state advancement for every 5 bands that qualify for that area.
  7. updated Area B Schedule https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZRlzvJ9rfQUfPlc6p0_BSOBvU3ufro4j/view?usp=sharing
  8. Are 4 bands advancing or is it 5 this year? edit: found this in one of my tabs - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1OYWoq0Sy186KraWX39QbQhpc3ulglnd1xfMR3opsFOw/edit?usp=sharing , big thanks to whoever made it. 5 will advance. We were one away from having 6
  9. My band goes on at 10:00! 2 competition day for us. So excited. best of luck to everybody performing today.
  10. I was gonna try and say hi to you at HEB, but you all looked pretty serious and I didn't know if you were allowed to or not. You guys sat right below us during the finals results. Great job, by the way (I go to Forney)
  11. I don’t post a lot on here, so I can’t say I’ve said anything yet, but I’ll go ahead and make a prediction for this next year. We’ll sweep 2A at DFW again, do it at Waco, and go on to win our class at SA. I’ll be bold and throw state finals in as well.
  12. Haha, I saw we were listed as 4A and said ...what?! but in all seriousness, I am so excited! I’ll get a video of our parent performance on Friday.
  13. We revealed our show a while back but I just haven't posted Forney - Barriers Musical selections include Tchaikovsky's 4.1, Imagine (Pentatonix), and pieces from the Maze Runner series
  14. just learned we at Forney are also going to be attending SA for the first time! so excited!
  15. McKinney North and Wylie East - lots of groups should be ahead based on past season, let alone the previous 5A year.
  16. it was our first year with a new director and assistant, and our first year in BOA. we're looking forward to next year, we have a cool show! not to mention we have a young band, i'd say over half are freshmen and sophomores right now.
  17. Area C. Poteet and Highland Park both made finals last year, and Forney made 13th, when they performed 2nd off a bad draw. I believe all 3 will make state finals this next year.
  18. Forney is only attending HEB, North Forney is going to Midlo.
  19. Putting The Colony over Forney is a mistake, imo. I'm biased though.
  20. Waxahachie, HP, Forney, Poteet advance if they take 4 in that order
  21. Forney has had some pretty strong performances - definitely expecting them to edge out Poteet if it comes to it at area
