After what happened to Hendrickson in 2014 I'll count the chickens once they've hatched.

 

Exactly what I thought about! 1st in prelims and then didn't make the cut for state. Tragic!

Just when we thought 5A state would be a runaway!

For what it’s worth, Dripping Springs beat Cedar Park at Area D in 2011 by A LOT in both rounds and then Cedar Park won state easily - even getting straight first place votes in prelims!

I think his point is UIL is crazy and anything can happen. Also Cedar Park is one of the best bands at bringing the heat when it matters.

Nah, but honestly area rankings rarely have any useful data when it comes to further predictions. They are always wack. Vista ridge won area D in 2013 and then things got set back to the correct order immediately the following week.

There are some judges who make regular appearances at 5A and 6A Area D but there’s usually appreciably different panels between years.

It’s hard to believe too. Dripping spring came out there on fire and cedar park had a small tear in the latter part of their show but still. I’m very surprised.

Did you make it to Area B tonight for finals?  If so, I don't know how you could type without your fingers freezing together!  I'm out here, and I'm thinking the last few bands are really going to be hurting.  42 degrees.  Brrrr...........

Negative, Band Mom!  I stayed home to watch Atlanta Finals and keep up with the Area situation.  I had chicken patties for dinner.  It was great.

Idk, I was at 2013 finals, and while I started having serious problems with the results at 4th place, I thought 1-2-3 was the correct order *that night*.
