I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that FloMo could win by around a point or more. I was pretty confident that they were gonna win state off percussion alone because their other sections are very good. Percussion has historically dropped their score a little at UIL competitions, but to give credit they've constantly improved and have been playing insanely well this year. They do not have a weak section musically going into the final weeks of the season. This competition and GrandNats is heavily GE dominated and I think FloMo easily has the best designed show in Texas. The music flows so well into the different sections and the moments designed to have an impact do deliver. The visual is also off the charts with the amount of choreo that they're doing throughout the show and from the streams it looks pretty good.

Agreed, Flomo could score around 97.5ish, just dominant in design and execution.

My friend in the Vandegrift parent pit crew tells me they're definitely still planning on going.  They're working logistics on how to borrow equipment, plus transportation, for the weekend.

That’s great!  Do you know what equipment they lost?  Was it a lot of instruments?

I really don't know for sure.  I think for the most part the wind instruments were okay.  They were well strapped-in and their cases did their job.  Probably more likely the impact was to front ensemble and electronics.   But that's just speculation.

Flower Mound win with a possibility of a sweep. Music is a 50/50, may go to Hebron but uncertain.

I am wondering now if Hebron could be closer than expected to Flomo after state. I feel like Flomos show is more for BOA considering they are going to nats, and Hebron really did only lose because of percussion. I'm not saying Flomo didn't deserve it as I had them in 1st but if we look at the recaps honestly.... I still think Flomo wins but if Hebron takes it, I wouldn't be surprised. I'm also hoping to see Vista improve on their placement here

Very interested to see how things move around from State, although I actually don't see it moving as much as people might think. 

Fighting for Gold: Obviously Flomo is the odds on favorite to win it all, and while I do think that they will, I also think that it's going to be a lot closer than people expect. Similar to Hebron in 2022 when everyone had them head and shoulders above but they only ended up winning by 0.25. I think Hebron, Vandegrift and The Woodlands will give them a fight, and possibly take a caption off of them.  just for fun I'll say Flomo in first with GE, Vandy in second with no captions 👀, Hebron in 3rd with music and The woodlands in 4th taking visual. 

 

Finalist locks: Anything can happen at the SA super but these are the bands that I would very surprised to see miss finals here. Vista Ridge, Reagan, Cedar Ridge, Cedar Park, Rouse, Dripping Springs, Pearland. 

 

12-14(15?🤞) INSANITY: This is the most competitive part of this contest and it's not particularly close. The bands that I could see taking one of the last three (maybe four!) spots would be Westlake, Seven Lakes, Leander, Moe and Gene, Mcneil, Round Rock, Wakeland, Keller, James Bowie, Claudia Taylor Johnson, Bridgeland, Cy-Fair, and I probably still left someone out by mistake.

 

I'm not even going to try and pick 3 from the above list, 23rd place at the SA super is not at all what it used to be. Excited to see what happens!

From what I hear it was pretty much their entire FE, but everything else was OK.  Logistically, the trailer will be harder to source than loaner FE.  Is Glenn going?  If not, they may be able to use their trailer for the weekend.  I think the biggest take away from the 6A contest isn't who won or lost, but how amazing the band community is.  We can argue about scores, who we think should or should not have won, but in the end everyone will do everything they can to support these kids and that's what matters.
