Better yet, bands from around the country could come on down to Texas and see how good they are and just how high the standard is in Texas.

Feels like there should be more Oklahoma bands that come down to San Antonio than there is. I think their state contest usually coincides with it.

(We are getting dangerously close to the Nationals-Should-Be-In-Texas conversation)

Wait it should, who had the bright idea of putting it in Indy, but also i do agree with I being in Indy because of it was in Texas it would just be unfair for everybody

Lucas Oil stadium with its nearby convention center is a far superior site to host a competition than anything Texas has to offer.

I agree, the Henry B. González Convention Center is good for TMEA, but its typically always super packed. Overall DCI finals and BOA Grands will probably stay there for a while.

Even if it's superior, which it is, it would still be a nice change of pace to have Grand Nats in San Antonio once every few years. Would be a great display of the depth Texas has. Exactly 4 non-Texas bands would sniff the top 14.

This is one thing that does sort of suck with Grand Nationals being so far away. I would love to see much more Texas representation at this event. But I do understand the distance makes it a cost thing.

Really don’t love the trend of putting jv/wind players on swing flag (especially when the guard is plenty big enough!), 9 times out of 10 it just makes those moments lack clarity visually.

Agreed. Round Rock doing it with their entire woodwinds section during the ballad impact doesn't sit right with me, for some reason.

I think it's a great moment and very fun! Probably my favorite moment of the show.

It's definitely fun! I love the music side of it, I just think the woodwinds being shoved in the back feels weird to me. It happens in a lot of shows, but it's just stuck out to me in the times I've seen them this year.

I wouldn't describe band members waving bright flags "shoved in the back" but I guess every human has their eyeballs.

It’s a good idea but it would just turn into boa San Antonio 2.0 but I would like to see something that would allow Texas bands to come a little easier so we can really compare all Texas bands

I was just having this conversation with someone, I feel like I have seen ~10 bands do this year. Don't necessarily hate it, but as a player, the ballad impact is super fun to play during.

I didn't really mean for it to be an argument. I just think ballads are fun moments to play during, and my sister as a woodwind often complained about not being able to do so, so it's just a concern I've been more aware of recently. The flags definitely add a ton of effect and I imagine a lot of the woodwinds are having a lot of fun in the moment.

It's definitely been more of a trope recently. As long as woodwinds aren't hidden away for large chunks of show I'm pretty ok with it.

"Quiet Please" screens while Reagan parents cheer the loudest they can is cracking me up

Yes, the Reagan parents were annoying because they were distracting me from enjoying Reagan's show.
