  1. Did they not already announce that they wouldn't be using narration?
  2. I would say Bell 05 was a harder show than my first year of drum corps. That show was ridiculous...
  3. Well I was actually just joking around, but that works too
  4. Be nice. At least he marched drum corps
  5. Have you no dignity
  6. Lol, the show was done before that movie even came out. Theres not like some higher meaning to the show, its just 5 pieces by samuel barber converged into 1. If you look at the guard uniforms they upper half of the uniforms were the same design as the band jackets, so theres also two uniforms "converged" into 1
  7. Now we are arguing about two different things, the journey and the end result. I agree with you on this point completely. As far as the shows themselves, what difference does it make weather they "march and play" the entire time, if its entertaining its entertaining...
  8. The point of all music in my opinion is to make an emotional connection with the listener, regardless of difficulty. Suppose thats just my opinion though
  9. Agreed. As far as Avon's show, Michael Boo wrote a really nice review of it on the BOA website somewhere, and it helps explain the story pretty well. All I really remember from it is that the end was supposed to represent anarchy and thats why everyone sprinted off the field. I definitely didn't get the show the first time I watched it...
  10. If you're going to argue a point bring something to back it up with at least!
  11. Once that happens we officially have to open up the sacrificing pit right? Its in the forum rules somewhere
  12. You beat me to it! I was about to post this
  13. I'm sure NAMI could use them as evidence in a lawsuit or something...
  14. Thats another interesting and slightly practical use for a prop. The band was selling the seahorse props at the annual craft fair at bell for 25 bucks. I would have bought one, but seriously, what am I going to do with one of those things.
  15. After rereading some of my posts and others responses on this thread, I realize that my posts have been a bit ironic in that while I've been busy pointing out others "lack of class" I've not really been showing any myself... The original instigator of this discussion was right in that the activity as a whole is rather "classy" just due to the ideals and overall goals of it. Having a drum corps is impossible without teamwork, discipline, and great leadership. It takes years of hard work and class for an organization to reach the status of a corps like the Blue Devils, and just a fraction of that time to completely derail an organization, whether its something said by a member of the organization or some random guy on an internet forum. Sure isolated incidents happen here and there, as they do with most corps/high school groups. You can't expect everyone to act perfect all of the time, especially in an activity where you are in an incredibly stressful environment for about 10 hours a day. Its unfortunate that its usually these isolated incidents that can sometimes decide what some people think about an entire organization, and even more unfortunate that sometimes these people choose to share these bad experiences with others on band forums and such, which ultimately gives people the wrong impression about the group. As for my post earlier, sorry if I offended anyone. Got a little wrapped up in stress during finals week and kind of just posted the first thing that came to my mind, in a rather disrespectful fashion. I would define the Blue Devils as anything but classless, and happen to be very good friends with a good number of their members.
  16. Probably not. Arguing is half the fun of these forums. And well said Aaron
  17. Thats because is IS bell 01. But man they did a great job of it, I've always loved their band. They have grown so much over the past 5 years
  18. Well they certainly sounded better in finals than they did in semi's, I'll give them that. And visually they were fantastic
  19. Daniel Montoya wrote their music book
  20. I thought the show actually got stronger towards the end. The company front was remarkable!
