You are right on that point. They did their best and all things considered they really did put out a great show, especially if you compare what the rest of the country is doing at the moment. I was at the State finals contest for Colorado last weekend...it was dismal at best. The caliber of bands here is nowhere near what it is in Texas, so the Reagan band definitely has nothing to be ashamed of. And on a side note, I dont think 32% is really that many freshman. Its slightly over a quarter...my junior year we had something like 45% (maybe more) new marching members.

Thats very unfortunate. And 3 gigs of RAM is pretty hefty, what sampler where you using??? -
I guess I'll chime in here. Sometimes making kids run isn't always the best way to motivate them, though in many cases it is. I marched with a drum corps the past two summers and they took the ''beat the kids into the ground'' approach for the first month, realized we were all unhappy and miserable for the first month, then they tried a much different approach. We ended up with our highest placement in 29 years and having a much better time. So basically don't just punish them for the sake of punishing them

Nancy's Stuff

Went back and listened to all your stuff. Very enjoyable to listen to! I really like the untitled wind ensemble piece. I thought that transition from minor to major at the beginning was probably my favorite part. What do you use to write your music? -
You realize you are telling him he can not do something by saying that he can't tell you you can't do something? Wow that was a mouthful

Gave everything a brief listen, because I've got a lot to do today. But you have some awesome stuff going on. Still using FL studio? -
The Metronome...

No, I meant pain. They would beat and whip us until we knew all of our dots by memory. Thats why our drill was so clean in 04 -

The school is also like a minute drive from the field...I'm sure many of them came back to hear results anyway. -
I thought Faust should have beaten machine to tell you the truth. That was one of the most emotional performances I've ever seen

LD Bell 2008

That might have a little to do with it, but I'd have to say its just a completely different approach between the three bands. I think L.D. Bell sounds more like a drum corps as far as overall tone quality goes, and the other two bands sound more like...well, concert bands. Obviously all three bands are pretty much on the same level of excellence, just a different approach to the way they sound. -

I'm going to go out on a limb and say this is one of, if not the loudest, high school band I've ever heard. So yes, huge dynamic contrast. It helps that they have like 40 trumpet players
