yeah I was meaning to imply in my post that we don't have to worry about it being indoors assuming the weather is bad. And technically its not a 'dome' but I can't imagine the sound being that different. For high schools its fine but for drum corps so much of the sound is seems to be washed out.

Hey try to look on the bright side. At least we don't have to worry about finals being in a dome (I always hated dome shows). And at least you are fortunate to get to march. You shouldn't have to perform in a state of the art venue to enjoy your summer. At least thats not what its about for me

nothing against anyone, but it seems like every year there are multiple people that think that band that won shouldn't. Thats just part of marching band being such a subjective activity.

As much as I agree, 07 was miles cleaner drill wise than 06. They just performed the heck out the show this year. When I get chills while watching a band through a semi okay quality webcast, you know they're doing something right

Rule change! No more fugue. Those can be a bit difficult to write...write whatever you want. It may make judging slightly more difficult but overall it should be easier for everyone thats actually participating

Alrighty everyone. Here are the rules for the composing competition. After receiving a few pm's and after realizing that writing a fugue is freaking hard I've decided that this contest will be completely open ended. The piece can be whatever you want it to be. Try and stick with tonal music though...none of that 12 tone stuff please. As a rough guideline, the piece should be about 2:00-5 minutes. It doesn't have to be in that exact range, but try and shoot for that. Anything shorter might not be enough to listen to and people won't want to be forced to listen to 12 minute pieces of music to judge them. Pieces need to be submitted by friday, march 28th. Thats just about two weeks. If you need help uploading something let me know. I may be able to start a music myspace page to put everyones stuff up on. If you have any questions or if I'm leaving anything out let me know

all percussion works too. I guess the first competition can be open ended as far as instrumentation. Lets just have a theme for the music.

ewww on the woodwinds.... How bout either all woodwinds or all brass. THat way contestants can have a few more option. And I would say 1:30-5 minutes in length
