Its late..I'm tired...and I'm a music major. Give me a break!

Hey apparently there's been some talk of Texas seceding in the news recently. Maybe we can just have our own national competition : P

They have plenty of fund raising opportunities, and I know of two or three people that have pretty much payed off their entire band fees that way. I generally had help from my parents, but I'm pretty sure most bands are good about working with students about payment options. I ended up mowing lawns every summer to help pay for it.

Of course not, but it sure would be fun to heckle them if it did happen : )

I think it would be awesome if the top 5 bands were all the Texas bands

I'm just curious, how many people that frequent these forums actually write music regularly, or at least semi-regularly. I think it'd be cool if we could post some stuff on here for people to listen to and maybe get some feedback...but I feel like not many users generally read this part of the forum

I dunno...some of the schools we stay at over summer have fields that are half a mile from their band hall. Moving all the equipment really is a huge workout...especially the timpani's.

The trailer is a bit generic, but from the 4 and a half minutes of music and drill I've seen so far I can assure you it kicks major butt

Wow Bell's going for the 5th year in a row! How they manage to raise the money for that each year is remarkable...the band always did have a ton of support from the community when I was there though. I'm also very excited to see Marcus finally going. Hopefully they can keep up their momentum from the past few years of awesome shows

a drum corps has not done medea in quite a while. A lot of drum corps fans dont watch high schools, so they don't see billions of people do it every year. That and Guidry's writing style seems to be pretty unique so i think it will sound at least somewhat different from what we've heard in years past

Well, from what I've seen of the Crossmen the past 5 years, and when comparing Aaron Guidry's writing style to Jim Primes, I'm going to say that the arrangements are going to be almost polar opposites. Wait until you see the show until you pass judgement too

Of course they are. The cool thing is when corps like Carolina Crown have been on the rise for the past 4 or 5 years and look to give corps like the cavaliers a run for their money this year. The Cadets should hopefully have a strong showing this year too. It seems like the top 5 has become the new top 3 And on a side note I still don't see how Crown did not win brass this year, they sounded phenomenal
