  1. Our JV guard got 2nd in Regional A White, and varsity got 2nd in Scholastic AA white, so I'm really excited. Especially our JV guard being all band members we were able to persuade to join it's really awesome
  2. cool, ours is the 19th, anyways we have two b/c our JV guard is in Regional A and will go Friday night, and then varsity in Scholastic AA is onn Sat. righ after Centennial in fact
  3. unfortunately not, we pulled out b/c almost all our floor crew people are at jazz band thing, and they want to skip this contest and get ready for championships next week
  4. yep, come out and watch the Wakeland wind symphony, yeah I'm excited b/c we're staying for your concert
  5. nope it's Thursday night, and while we're not nervous there is some uncertainty, it's hard to believe UIL is only about 16 days from now
  6. Dang, u guys at Richland are beasts considering marching w/ so few numbers great job to u, for us we're trying to get everyone in middle school to do band, and actually the numbers are going up
  7. all right, happy easter to everyone, although I think I really should go practice for UIL
  8. Nice u guys are getting an 18 wheeler I'm hoping we will, b/c there is no room in there and adding as many as we are for next year I don't even know what's going to happen. Hey, we're going to have 180 next year, how about u guys?
  9. Our pre-uil is this upcoming Thursday, and we're using it as a possible honor band recording. I don't know I think we got the march and suite on greek love songs to a pretty solid level, but Apollo is going to bring us down. Right now, it feels like we're looking at a 1-1-2 if we're lucky b/c it could go 1-2-2 which would be awful
  10. I agree and I'm happy u'll stick w/ it, I may not be the most talented, but I love my band the people in it, and especially the fun we have, and although at times I felt band sucks, and wanted to quit the people drew me in more and more to the point quiting would be the dumbest thing I could have done. Also, who knows maybe if u guys are lucky u can make area finals again I mean u do have one more shot left
  11. I totally understand we all have different reason we're in band. for me, I'm not the best player, but I love the people, the contests, and the fun we have together as a family, and if band isn't fun anymore than go ahead and quit b/c band should be first and foremost for your enjoyment, and I understand that when your unsuccessful it's a lot harder to like it, it's so difficult when u can never do well at contests and such, and watching other bands make finals and take home trophies while your going home at 5 o'clock. I think that's another thing that has kept our band together, that we are quite successful, and it just keeps us working harder
  12. wow, just listened to all of the music put together and it's amazing I love it, we just need to cut it down by a minute, and put together a show and we'll be ready. Man, I can't believe we already know our show for next year, it's pretty sweet, and it's going to be fun next year as a senior
  13. we got what our show will be for next year. tell me what u think It's called The Butterfly Effect featuring music from Russian composers "The Firebird" Stravinsky "The Tale of the Tsar Saltan" Rimisky-Korskav "Romeo and Juliet" Prokofiev "The Nutcracker" &"The Swan Lake" Tchaikovisky
  14. wow our band hasn't hit that level yet, we're still doing high grade 4's and lower 5's
  15. I know I will be at James Bowie on the 7th, Colleyville on the 29th, and then finals the following week, as a floor crew member, but I couldn't do it for the Aledo one b/c I have a scheduling conflict
  16. yeah, it's nice but still lincolnshire posy is a little risky but I'm sure u can pull it off. As of right now, we are going 1. The Black Horse Troop March (sousa) 2. The Suite of Greek love songs (by some guy w/ an impossible last name) 3. Apollo Unleashed (ticheli) everyone loves Apollo but if it's not pretty good by middle of next week he'll scratch it and pick something else, but for a group that's half freshman this w/o a doubt the hardest piece they have ever played much harder than the two Holsts, and to think this is still a Grade 4!!!
  17. Chris Kichline isn't bad, and yeah Greenleaf is awesome
  18. Yes, it's kind of weird to say this but I think our football schedule got easier moving up w/ the two fading McKinney schools, Sherman(ok, but great band), Denison(not very good), Centennial(9-31 in 4 years speaks for itself) Liberty first year varsity, and Frisco the only decent team there is. While in 3A we had Celina 3A state champs, Pilot Point, and Prosper although we beat them all. Band-wise it just got tougher, but the rate we are going I trust the guys to make a great run especially the seniors which some will be 4 year leadership team
  19. Yes just got back from Centennial contest, and we did great. I'm from Wakeland and our JV got 3rd in Novice and moved up to Regional A, and varsity got 2nd in Scholastic AAA, and moved up to AA, Centennial btw got 4th in AAA. Of course, it's nice to have a great director like Mr. Kichline. Oh yeah, our contest is on March 7th, a Friday, and we would like to see everyone there.
  20. For UIL we are going to play Candide and are working on it a little right now, and probably something from Whitacre like October, Lux Arumque, or Sleep, and I'm not exactly sure about what march
  21. originally so I could take a year of band get that fine arts credit and then quit, but ever since marching I absolutely love it, and after the Spring band trip I just wait for the show music BTW, has anyone ever been to Branson, Missouri, b/c that's where we are going this year
  22. yeah I love Crossmen, and Phantom. Hate the cadets I think it is pretty lame, and Marcus that gray hurts my eyes but not their music. I don't like ours when we go all navy, I like the silver breastplate
  23. Does any other bands do something right before they go into a contest. As for us right before we head to warmup, we get into a big circle w/everyone and cross our hands and pray. It's really neat, and then just before we leave warmups we have this really cool chant
  24. concert actually Dec 18, still in panic, but I don't know about Rhapsody in Blue b/c when we heard Coppell did a rhapsody in blue show many people were freaking out even though it's coppell and so much better than us. Also is that the same Dr. Holt that use to teach at Pioneer
  25. Tuesday Feb. 12. Yikes that's only a month away, and I have a whole bunch of runs I need to work up during the break. and OMG, yeah our director only cares about what you guys do, he doesn't really care what Liberty and Frisco do. He was lecturing us woodwinds how is we can't these runs right in pro bands they fire you for it, and how you guys were playing Hindemeth's A Symphonic Metamorphsis, and Nutcracker, and how we can't even do a difficult class 4 piece. Partly b/c Dr. Trent wanted to listen to us, which would have been scary and embarrasing, so yeah when is your concert
