  1. Yup, that makes 2 bands in this area that failed to get 1'sat region. That means if 2 or more bands fail to get 1's then we'll only see 6 bands advance to state. Man, this is really coming down to the wire and it's only the first day of region contests...
  2. As if things couldn't get any more true, Grand Prairie made 1's as well.
  3. Does anyone know what's the difference between a Varsity band and a Var-Composite band is? I'm curious as to what that means.
  4. Well, 2 bands as of now (Crowley and Bowie) made 1's at Region this year and they didn't last year. I'm just hoping Cedar Hill and Lamar qualify to better our chances of advancing 7 bands to state.
  5. See? This is proof that everything I am saying is true, Bowie got straight 1's today. Grand Prairie performs later this evening, so I'll post an update after their performance.
  6. You made an error. 4 bands will NOT be able to advance from this area. Welp, it looks like 23 bands will attend this contest considering all Region 31 bands advance, which means we would have 10 finalists and 4 state advancers in this area.
  7. And for the record, this is the first year ever that all Region 30 bands receive straight 1's since the Region formed in 2016.
  8. About that: Crowley HS is actually a 6A school, but for some reason is listed as a 5A school on texasmusicforms.com. But you are correct, that all Region 30 bands made 1's: Aledo Azle Brewer Burleson Centennial Cleburne Everman Granbury Joshua Saginaw
  9. So we just got got the Regiom 30 results and it's perfect throughout the entire region. All 1's from the following bands: Boswell Chisholm Trail Crowley North Crowley Weatherford So that's 5 bands we know for sure will be at area. Region 5 also has their contest today so we'll get the results from there later tonight.
  10. Alright, I sincerely apologize for not making any changes to this spreadsheet in weeks. As a marching band member myself, I have been really busy for these past few weeks in the midst of contest season and UIL Region coming up. I just want to assure you all that I am back to work at this, as you can see I've already completed all 9/23 contests. There will be some comps that I will not have results for (like Melissa prelims or Seguin), and more because they don't actually release results to the public, but I'll try to do the best I can. Also, if there was a comp that is not on here, feel free to let me know (there are so so many comps that go on in one day in this huge state that I might've skipped over).
  11. I got all of Area B 6A and Area F 5A covered which consists of Regions 5, 20, 30, and 31
  12. Oh yeah, when I said "these past few years", I meant prior to 2022. But yes, "Downtown" was probably one of my all time favorites shows. I'm really excited to see what they can do with "Tag Team". But I still think they will do well with BOA and UIL at the same time.
  13. Yeah, so I think Duncanville just really prioritizes UIL over BOA, and I definitely think their shows these past few years shows. The real difference is that BOA is more of a content/design thing, while UIL is about execution. It really just comes down to can the show look good while executing well at it.
  14. Alright, so it looks like most UIL region contests are happening this week. We have Region 30 (non Keller ISD) and Region 5, on 10/10, Region 20 on 10/11, and Region 30 (Keller ISD) on 10/12. Region 31 has theirs the next week on 10/17. It looks like we have a total of 38 bands in this area, which means we would have a maximum of 12 area finalists and 7 state advancers. I feel confident that all Region 30/31 bands will advance, but there are a few Region 5/20 bands that worry me, including but not limited to: Grand Prairie Sam Houston Bowie Lamar Cedar Hill Skyline DeSoto MacArthur Irving So, at least 1 of these bands need to get 1's to have 12 finalists and at least 6 need to get 1's to send 7 bands to state. This is going to be an interesting week for sure.
  15. Are you sure? Arlington Lamar didn't qualify for area last year and I don't think they've ever been to a BOA contest before.
  16. There are a couple of options, like Fossil Ridge, Haltom, and Boswell. And my dark horses are really North Crowley and Paschal. Really need to look out for them, as they are completely different ensembles compared to last year. They might even be able to steal a finalist spot if they're really lucky.
  17. And going back to what you said about the director change, I think the kids just need some time to adapt to this change. Director changes are never easy, if I've learned anything.
  18. Yeah, It's just that I never would've expected bands like Boswell, Fossil Ridge, or even Mansfield to beat them out. They were making significant progress at that, making area finals for the first time in almost a decade, but now with him gone, I don't know what the future holds for them. I believe McCann is now at Timber Creek and they're having their best season as of late.
  19. I was quite shocked that Martin didn't win this. It just seems like their program has gone downhill after Mr. McCann, their old director left. They got 12th at HEB and didn't make finals at BOA DFW this year. I wonder what the rest of this season looks like for them, especially going into area.
  20. I'm pretty sure Saginaw is not going here because they are going to USBands Burleson.
  21. Overall, I am surprised with the results. I knew that not every band was going to make finals, but I was shocked that Allen didn't make it. Given how big they are (like at least 800 members), I would've expected them to make it. I guess that is a prime example that bigger doesn't always mean better. And for Walnut Grove, I know they are a first year program, but given that they are a PISD band, I guess I was having higher expectations for them, and was disappointed when they didn't make it. Wishing them well this season. Let's see what they can pull off by area.
  22. I really hope Prosper makes state with their show this year. They have a Texas themed show this year and they are literally dressed up as Texans. But they have had a heartbreak for 2 years in a row now, with them losing to Boyd by a tiebreaker. Hopefully that doesn't happen again.
  23. I feel like everyone is sleeping on Burleson Centennial. I've seen their show at the USBands Saginaw and Crowley Regionals and they're as good as ever. They could do some serious damage here, especially to the bottom half of finalists.
  24. So I just wanted to give some recognition to James Bowie and Grand Prairie. Obviously no one really talks about them because they are both small bands and have gotten 2's in recent years, but after watching them, I think they are good for their size. While visually, both of them are kind of a mess, musically they are actually clean. In fact, they are probably cleaner than some bands that have advanced in the past. Although they will probably not get that far, I think they are both on track to getting 1st division and advance to area, which means more bands, and more opportunity for the higher bands to advance to state. Here's a livestream of their game. Bowie performs at around 2:11:00 and Grand Prairie performs at around 2:22:00.
  25. Does anyone know what's up with Crowley HS? They are listed as a 5A band on texasmusicforms.com, as well as the TMEA website. On TMEA, they are listed as a 6A (5A) band for some reason. But then they are on the Area B 6A Draw Order, but not the Area F 5A Draw Order. I was wondering if someone had any information?
