UIL 6A Area H 2025
BandNerd07 replied to LeanderMomma's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
This area is going to be stupid hard from here on out... Leander, Rouse, and Cedar Park appear to have 6A numbers and it looks like Vandy's here to stay at least for one more cycle. This is more than likely going to be a LISD sweep and there's truly going to be an elite program miss state. Kinda makes me feel bad for Westlake, Lake Travis, and Brandeis knowing that it will be a very long shot at making state. Something needs to change. I know last year there was a proposition to allow areas to advance an additional band for every band that medaled at state but I don't think it went through. If there's any area that would benefit from this rule, it's this one. -

I think they just need to get rid of Area J and revert back to what it used to be. Put Regions 5, 20, 30, and 31 in Area B and Regions 2, 3, 21, 24, and 35 in Area C. 2-3 state spots is NOT enough for a metroplex 6A Area. Area B also had a scare after North Crowley and Weatherford got 2’s but luckily everyone in Region 5 advanced. But how about Area J? Wakeland is on the bubble and if they move up, it’s going to be insane. I guarantee everyone in Area J is praying for Wakeland to stay in 5A. I think adding a third area has caused more problems than solution IMO. -

About realignment: Rock Hill, Guyer and Little Elm are staying 6A. As you may know, today is snapshot day which is the day every school turns their enrollment numbers in to the UIL for the rext realignment. Guyer has 2567, Rock Hill has 2533, and Little Elm has 2444, making them a lock to stay in 6A. Still waiting on McKinney Boyd to turn their numbers in. Furthermore, Wakeland is right on the bubble as they turned in 2245. If the actually move up this area is going to be so insane. Just the thought of Wakeland or Prosper missing state is unreal... -

Wow, it really seems like someone in this area is always getting DQ’d, first Wakeland, then Lovejoy, and now The Colony. Definitely sucks for the seniors though getting robbed of what is most likely their last performance of the season. -

UIL 5A Area F 2025
BandNerd07 replied to richlandbassclarinet's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Apologies for the error. I thought Arlington Heights won in prelims because they performed last in finals and I thought finals was reverse prelims order (I had to go get dinner during prelims awards so I didn’t see that Joshua got 5A outstanding band) but Heights was my personal favorite show of the day. But anyways there’s so many bands that can make finals. Out of area B, C and F this is definitely the most unpredictable area in DFW. -

I’d even include Arlington Heights in the 8-10 range. They beat Creekview at Springtown and won in prelims over Joshua and Brewer. They are absolutely in finals contention. -

Oh wow, honestly at first I thought SGP beating Lake Ridge at Mansfield POC was just a fluke, but they definitely proved that they are for real this year. For all I know they could be a very big dark horse for state. -

Based on recent results, I think this is what it’s looking like. 1. Coppell 2. Keller 3. Bell 4. SLC 5. Timber Creek 6. Keller Central 7. Trinity 8. Haltom 9. Lake Ridge 10. SGP -

This is great news! Sam Houston has finally gotten over the hump after so many years, every year they get a little bit closer but they finally did it. Nice to see Lamar qualify back to back and Bowie and Grand Prairie return to Area. I still can’t believe North Crowley and Weatherford missed it especially after seeing every typical bottom dweller qualified. That needs to be investigated IMO, not for the Region 5 bands making it but NC and Weatherford not making it. -
UIL 5A Area F 2025
BandNerd07 replied to richlandbassclarinet's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
There’s 31 bands in this area so technically there could be a 12 band finals and 6 to state but that’s very unlikely as a lot of FWISD bands will probably get 2s or worse. Arlington Heights and Paschal are really the only locks for FWISD. If only 1 band fails to get a 1 then there would be a 12 finals/6 state so there is very little room for error here. -

They're in Zone 2 for Region 30. They go on Thursday. Zone 1 went today and includes Burleson, Centennial, Chisholm Trail, Cleburne, Everman, Granbury, Joshua, and Saginaw. All Zone 1 bands advanced. -
UIL Every Region Results 2025
BandNerd07 replied to Dave609's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
North Crowley and Weatherford getting 2's is not going to bode well for area B as a whole as they will likely now only be 3 bands to state from that area. -
UIL 6A Area B 2025
BandNerd07 replied to BandNerd07's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
It definitely is, that was definitely unexpected. I was more surpised that Weatherford got 2's given how well they did at the USBands Dallas Regional, being the second band out of finals in a difficult competition. In a way it does make me wonder do the judges grade 6A bands tougher than 5A because in Region 30 all of the 5A's advance while only Boswell and Crowley advanced in 6A. Furthermore Crowley got a 2-1-1 at region. So as I said earlier 2 of SH, Bowie, and GP need to make it as well as Lamar making a back-to-back area appearence (which they should having seen their show already) to send 4 bands to state. What a bummer... -

Well it's really looking like only 3 bands are going to state out of this area as both North Crowley and Weatherford just got 2's at region. So unless 2 of Sam Houston, Bowie, or Grand Prairie somehow make it only 3 will advance and 7 finalists. -
2026-2027 UIL Realignment
BandNerd07 replied to dfwhorn's topic in Everything Music: Marching, Concert, Auditions and more
Actually, LISD readjusted attendance boundaries last school year to respond to growth at Leander, rouse and Glenn as well as a decline at cedar park, vandy and vista. Based on what they’re projecting for the upcoming school year, it’s looking like all 6 will be in 6A. If this happens, westlake and LT can basically say goodbye to making state beyond 2025 as LISD sweeping this area is pretty much a given and not all of them would even make it (Glenn). There seriously needs to be some major region and area rezoning if this actually happens -
Early season predictions 1. Keller 2. Sachse 3. Duncanville 4. Lake Belton 5. Lake Ridge 6. Colleyville Heritage 7. The Colony 8. Byron Nelson 9. Grapevine 10. Chisholm Trail Yeah its really hard predicting this area due to how many quality bands that are here. I'd say the top 6 are locks and 7-10 could be in the bubble with bands such as Lovejoy, North Mesquite, or Midway also sneaking in.

USBands Saginaw Regional (9/27)
BandNerd07 replied to BandNerd07's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Respectable, I see how you have north Crowley back in finals. As an NC alumni now, last year was definitely a glitch. Several reasons why I think we didn’t do so well was our show was poorly designed, this show was a lot harder in both music and drill and we received music and drill music extremely late which resulted in limited preparation. But with this year’s show, they have potential to be great and the band has grown in numbers with the incoming freshmen which could result in them being moved up a group. Whatever happens, I am excited for north Crowley and I will definitely be rooting from the stands this year -

UIL 6A Area B 2025

Yeah SLC is another example of inconsistency. Took them 3 years to get back to state after advancing in 2021. In 2022 they must've had a rough prelims performance with them getting 12th but then losing to Dville in the tie breaker. And then last year, they tied with KC for 7th and would've made state based on prelims results but fell short in finals. It'll be interesting to see if they keep a sense of consistency as well.
