Early season predictions 1. Keller 2. Sachse 3. Duncanville 4. Lake Belton 5. Lake Ridge 6. Colleyville Heritage 7. The Colony 8. Byron Nelson 9. Grapevine 10. Chisholm Trail Yeah its really hard predicting this area due to how many quality bands that are here. I'd say the top 6 are locks and 7-10 could be in the bubble with bands such as Lovejoy, North Mesquite, or Midway also sneaking in.

USBands Saginaw Regional (9/27)
BandNerd07 replied to BandNerd07's topic in Non-UIL: Upcoming Contests, Events, and Festivals
Respectable, I see how you have north Crowley back in finals. As an NC alumni now, last year was definitely a glitch. Several reasons why I think we didn’t do so well was our show was poorly designed, this show was a lot harder in both music and drill and we received music and drill music extremely late which resulted in limited preparation. But with this year’s show, they have potential to be great and the band has grown in numbers with the incoming freshmen which could result in them being moved up a group. Whatever happens, I am excited for north Crowley and I will definitely be rooting from the stands this year -

Yeah SLC is another example of inconsistency. Took them 3 years to get back to state after advancing in 2021. In 2022 they must've had a rough prelims performance with them getting 12th but then losing to Dville in the tie breaker. And then last year, they tied with KC for 7th and would've made state based on prelims results but fell short in finals. It'll be interesting to see if they keep a sense of consistency as well.

Looks like no one else started this topic, so I guess I will. Anyways this is gonna be a fun area like always. Here's my early season predictions: 1. Coppell - Safe to say they are a lock, coming off of their 4th consecutive Area Championship. 2-3. Keller/Timber Creek - They always seem to go neck and neck during early season contests. TC seems to beat Keller at a lot of early season contests (HEB, BOA Bedford/Prosper) but Keller always figures it out by area. Interchangable but locks IMO. 4-7. SLC, KC, LD Bell, Lake Ridge - The last spot will come down to these 4 bands. SLC can 2-peat a SMBC appearance, KC can advance for the first time in 6A after barely missing state this year, Bell had a rough season. Can they bounce back? And then Lake Ridge, for the first time in a while, is in the state Convo. Very fun show last year and can't wait to see them build on to last year's success. Finalist Bubble - Halttom, Trinity, Boswell, Martin, Mansfield

2025 Changes to UIL Marching Competition, and Proposals
BandNerd07 replied to utee94's topic in UIL: Upcoming Contests
There was also a proposal to medal ALL state finalists, so if that and D3 pass, we could see an area like area J advance SEVEN bands to state, allowing Braswell, Wylie, and McKinney advance. I do think it would kinda be crazy to only send 3 area finalists home, but it does make sense considering that this is the toughest area in the state. Every state level band should be allowed to advance without getting the short end of the stick. -

UIL 6A Area B 2024
BandNerd07 replied to BandNerd07's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
About the rain, they may end up delaying the start of prelims, which would mean the performance times would get pushed back a few hours. I remembered last year at 5A Area F, prelims didn't start til like noon or something and was supposed to start at like 8 or 9. Prelims awards ended up being at like 7 or 8, which meant some bands in prelims performed with pitch black skies, and then finals went all the way until midnight. Area contests have to be completed by midnight, so if that doesn't work they may end up making the contest prelims only, which would mean bands would be certified based on prelims results. But this is interesting as I don't think this has ever happened before, when the original date and the alternate date are rained out. -

Yes, this is definitely a bloodbath of an area. And to think if one more band had gotten a 2, there would only be three bands for state... -

So that's 20 bands qualified for area. However, 6 of these bands are military bands: Ennis, Hallsville, Jacksonville, Lufkin, Nacogdoches, and Whitehouse. So that's actually 14 bands attending that march corps style. There will be 10 finalists and 4 to state. -

Thanks for the info. TMF hasn't been posting the Region 3 results at all. And nice to see Naaman Forest make Area in a long time too. -

Grand Prairie just received a 2. Arlington is the last band to perform so assuming they get 1's it's pretty much official. It's 10 finalists and 4 to state from this area. -

Not yet, Region 5 is currently having their contest and so far 2 bands got a 2 which was Bowie and Sam Houston. This means if 2 or more band don't get a 1, that will lead to only 7 finalists and 3 to state. This will only add to the intensity of an already bloodbath of an area... -

No they got a 1-1-2 but since majority rules, South Hills advances. It was Polytechnic, Trimble Tech and Wyatt got a 2. -

This now brings the total count to 23. So now we just have Region 5 on Tuesday with the following bands: Heritage Juan Seguin Midlothian Summit Timberview All of these bands should advance, including JS because their show this year is way better than years past. -
UIL 4A Area B 2024
BandNerd07 replied to Dave609's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
So out of 44 bands in this area, so far none of them have advanced, which is 7. There are currently 37 bands left that haven't had region yet. Literally every other Region has their contest this Saturday, so we will get our full area lineup by then. 30 bands need to get 1's to have 12 finalists and 6 state advancers. That means if 8 or more bands get a 2 or lower, we'll only have 10 finalists and 5 state advancers. -

I know this isn't surprising, but none of the Region 20 bands advanced. Carter - 2 Ferris - 2 Kimball - 3 Life Waxahachie - 2 Townview - 2 Wilmer Hutchins -4
