  1. Interesting, I wonder why? They had a VERY successful first season, 3rd in AA at prosper, 7th at the Mckinney marching comp and made finalist THEIR FIRST YEAR at area B, which is arguably the most competitive 5A area, all of this in their first year of existence is something very hard to do. Maybe he was super strict or something, idk, but I don't know if this was the move
  2. 100%! If anything, they are still “young”, and have had only one year of making finals at the big shows, which is still something to be super proud of as they have done what programs have dreamed of they have been open for years longer so fast, but personally I think they will be just fine here
  3. wait that's actually so funny lol! But yes, this is looking to be another super stacked GN's, finals will once again be SUPER tight to get into to, but I know our Tx bands are gonna kill it as always! Really excited to see how AAA turns out, cedar park might be taking home their first AAA class championship from nats!
  4. Wow this is so exciting, super excited to see your kid and the rest of the band perform in Indy next season!!
  5. Since their calendar is private, I’m curious as to where you got this information ( I believe you just wondering lol) but wow if this is true that is SO exciting!! Seeing how well their season was last year they are definitely a finalist in my eyes assuming they don’t fall off
  6. It’s going to be very interesting to see how the lineup for this event turns up being outside of the normal finalist. There are THREE other major local contest on this day now, the McKinney and Wylie invitationals and the Don Hanna comp in Denton. I’d imagine McKinney will still be fine, but the WMI tends to pull some notable bands that also come here, such as Lonestar and Lebanon Trail. I’m not concerned as much as I am curious as to who will chose what to go to, but we may see some new faces in finals this year
  7. Can you elaborate? I’ve only heard great things about their previous staff and how much the kids loved them so I’m a bit confused
  8. Wait so he left Walnut Grove?
  9. Here’s what I think could possibly happen. For 5A, move the region 25 bands from area B to C. While HP is coming back, they are losing Forney and Pine Tree and possibly others, while area B has only been growing, with the additions of Argyle, Melissa, Anna, plus new schools like Emerson, Walnut Grove, and I’d guess next cycle Panther Creek. I think moving bands like Sherman, Lovejoy, Melissa and Anna from 25 to Area C would one, increase the quality of the area and two, give those programs a solid shot at making state intended of having to compete with state finalist every year. I think it’s something that needs to happen and hopefully does. In terms of 6A, in my opinion, they just need to make a new area for North Texas. I think I’ve said this in a previous post, but put it in the new prosper or mckinney stadium, and make it the bands from McKinney, Prosper, Allen, now Princeton, Wylie and Plano schools from C, and the Richardson/ very north Dallas schools and Coppell. Having Coppell their allows for a bar to be set, but this would already be a 20+ area, maybe even take the closer bands from Garland ISD like Sachse and have them come here, but something needs to change and I think this is an easy and fair solution
  10. So here are some of the bigger/more notable changes/non changes: Forney, Foster and Princeton to 6A DeSoto and Lakeview Centennial stay 6A per request Highland Park, Weiss, Keller Fossil Ridge, New Braunefels, Anderson and Chisholm Trail from 6A-5A Anna and Kaufman from 4A-5A my biggest takeaway is Weiss back down to 5A. Area D was already competitive enough, and while the past 2 seasons weren’t their best, they are still a super strong program and we could definitely see them back at state this coming season. I’m also very excited to see how NB does in 5A! They’ve been a program on the rise post-Covid, making area finals in 21 and barely being out in 22/23. If I had to guess, they will also be joining area D, and I’d l of for them to make state this coming season. It will also be very interesting to see how Fossil ridge does in 5A and Forney in 6A. I do also think it’s going to take some time for Anna, much like Melissa, to cement itself as a powerhouse program much like they were in 4A. Seeing that they will almost certainly be in Area B, they are going to be one of the smaller programs, unless of course their numbers grow, but I don’t think it will be long before we seem them in area finals
  11. yeah it kinda stinks that this day is a pretty region heavy day (I think) for a good amount of dfw programs, maybe just Tx programs in general, so I'm hoping it doesn't effect the enrollment to much
  12. This event has been confirmed to be on October 19th!! This is the weekend before area starts up, so it’s looking we will have both 5A and 6A programs much like 2019! I’m super excited for this event (no particular reason 😂) and can’t wait to see a ton of amazing programs! also, Baylors football schedule couldn’t have been more perfect for me in terms of games on days with comps, so here’s what my tentative schedule is for next season: Boa dfw: in person, all day Boa prosper: in person, all day Boa waco: in person, first half of prelims and finals Boa San Antonio: in person, both days, all day Boa Grand Nationals(Box5) If I end up going to SA, it will be my first time at this event and 2nd time in the dome, so knowing’s it even a possibility makes me so happy. Can’t wait for the fall of 2024!!!
  13. With what I believe is the big 12 2024 football schedule releasing tomorrow morning at 10, we will most likely get the date of this comp somewhat figured out tomorrow! And what comps I will be able to/will be attending next season
  14. Super excited, good definitely see them medal here. Assuming BA comes back, as well as Blue springs, I feel Timber and Bentonville will be fighting for that 3rd place spot
  15. Congrats!!
  16. Yeah, I bet you that's the thing. Makes sense, but hopefully it doesn't affect the comp in future or this coming season in terms of enrollment/ class representation, but I'd imagine most programs will appreciate this
  17. 2916?!? LeanderMomma has time travel powers?? 😧
  18. I would imagine so. There aren't really any other close regionals except Austin and the other Houston one, so maybe they'd do that if that's closer? But I'd imagine they still will 100%!
  19. I would Imagine most of the regulars at Katy will be here, but hopefully we get some more class A/AA rep that are closer to this stadium, but should be a real fun one to watch next season!
  20. yes I do believe so, but I'd imagine most if not all the regulars at the Katy will still come here
  21. Super excited! Hoping I can attend this one again and see all these amazing programs!
  22. Oh yeah I forgot about that
  23. It definitely will be close between the two! I'm guessing the top 3 will remain the Lewisville schools. I think right now, I'd give 4th to Wylie, they've been on a role post-covid and haven't missed state the last 3 years, so unless the senior class leaving heavily hurts them, I don't see them dropping out of the top 6, though they could drop to 5th/6th. I think the last two spots, at least right now, will be Prosper and Forney. Forney did VERY well at state and boa SA, placing over schools like Leander, Wylie East, etc. Prosper was very strong last year, great show and I'd imagine we'll see them back at state unless something drastic happens. The biggest contesters would be Wylie East, Mckinney Boyd, Rockhill (last year was weird for them at area, think they will place much better next season) and Rockwall, who is always great. Ofc, East hasn't missed making state since their first time in 2019, but they would need to rise to the occasion and be able to take down Prosper and/or Forney, which didn't happen last year. Ofc, they did beat Prosper in 22, but they were strong then compared to last year. And it's not just competitive in the top half but getting into finals will be virtually impossible. Based on last season, were looking at 1st-10th being locks, as shown below, and the last two spots being up for grabs. Again, this is assuming none of the bands in the top 10 below fall off. I'd also imagine bands like Braswell, who did great all season but then missed area finals, are going to be out for blood. This will easily be the most competitive 6A area C to date, and I'm really hoping I can attend this one next year, as long Baylor doesn't have a FB game the same day. Here's my way to early predictions: 1st: Hebron/Marcus 2nd: Marcus/Hebron/Flomo 3rd: Marcus/Flomo 4th: Wylie 5th: Forney/Prosper 6th: Prosper/Forney 7th: Wylie East 8th: Mckinney Boyd 9th: Rockhill 10th: Rockwall 11th/12th: Mckinney/Byron Nelson/Lakeview Centennial/Braswell/Lewisville/Plano East/Little Elm/Plano Senior; could be any of these schools I'm super excited for this area next year and can't wait to see how things shake up!
