2022 BOA Austin (Sept. 24)
peshbandkid replied to LeanderMomma's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
My takeaways 1. Cedar Ridge is in a perfect position early this season! .55 behind Vandegrift bodes very well for them! 2. Round Rock bounced back from an awkward 2021 season! While the new uniforms are... different to say the least, I am glad to see them pushing ahead early! 3. I wasn't able to see Leander in prelims or finals, but their placement does concern me a little. I'm positive they will improve over the season, but I do wonder what put them in 12th -

Definitely agree! CR was locked in the entire time and was my personal favorite of the day! Vandegrift was terrific, but there seemed to be some visual miscues. Nonetheless, both shows will develop phenomenally over the season! -

Based on what I've seen so far this year, I think there are a few brackets Austin can be broken into 1:Vandegrift They have been phenomenal so far this season and are incredibly clean 2-4: Vista Ridge, Cedar Park, Cedar Ridge Any placement of these three is justifiable. Cedar Park sounded exceptional, Cedar Ridge was incredibly enjoyable, and Vista Ridge feels like the Vista that gave us Turning The Tables. These three will be phenomenal over the season! 5-8: Westlake, Rouse, Leander, Round Rock The only footage of Leander I saw was a bad football stream early, so it's hard to fairly judge them. Westlake is sounded super mature and like a big contender in this contest! Although I haven't seen anything from Rouse, I think last season was a stepping stone for long-term consistency for them! I think Round Rock will bounce back this year. Some of their visual work is still strange to me, but they sound really good so far! Finding four more finalists in this group is DIFFICULT. Hendrickson, James Bowie, Westwood, Dripping Springs, Weiss, Brandeis, and Lake Travis are among the group that I just don't know how to place yet, but this contest will be fantastic! -

They sound really good early on this season! Defintely a finals hopeful in my book! -
I think 6A is more up in the air this year. I would love to see a new winner in Vandegrift or hopefully see Vista Ridge return to the top! I'm also rooting for Coppell to do well

2022-23 Area C Predictions?
peshbandkid replied to SaxPapi101's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Hearing from my friends at Plano East, it sounds like they are already WAY ahead of the curve from last year and their design this year is much stronger than last. Could be a low finalist or just on the edge -

These are the most significant moments in Plano East History 1981- School Opened 1998- First State Appearance 2000- Second State Appearance 2002- Third State Appearance *Years of barely missing state* 2010- "Pursuit" - 14th BOA San Antonio (First ever BOA Appearance and First Finals Appearance) - Weather kept us from going to Area Finals 2011- "Currents" - 15th BOA San Antonio 2012- "The Bells" (aka The Show Of Legend) -12th BOA San Antonio (Last SA Finals Appearance) -19th at UIL SMBC 2016- "Steampunk Heart" - 26th at UIL SMBC 2019- "1000 Cranes" (my Sophomore year) - 1st Carrolton TOC - Mr. V retires (after over 40 years of instruction in Plano, Duncanvllle, Austin, and San Angelo) This year was our first "normal" year without Mr. V, who had served as a head director from 2006-2019 and had been a director at PESH since 1996. Our heyday was really from 2009-2014, but I think Mr. B can bring us back to glory! -

Only one Area B school made it to finals! I was really rooting for Lone Star, they looked and sounded AMAZING at BOA Dallas -

Flo Mo, Hebron, and Marcus are for all practical purposes state locks. Other spots are a tossup between Wylie, McKinney, John Horn, Plano East, Prosper, and Sachse. Any combination could happen -

I remember seeing Hebron after our performance from the end zone. I'd honestly be SHOCKED if they lost. Musically phenomenal and visually (at least from what I could see) clean. Then again, I haven't seen any other attending bands at this point
