Going off of this, the first 10 bands would be: 1. Timber Creek 2. Westlake 3. Waxahachie 4. L.D. Bell (!!!) 5. Cypress Woods 6. Seven Lakes 7. Cy-Fair 8. Wylie 9. Wylie East 10. Lake Travis All battling for one spot. I do NOT envy the judges -

I am fairly confident Marcus will be a finalist. Although SA was a shocker, Marcus has long been a band that does better in UIL. Translation between the two is sometimes hard since they weigh different components significantly different. -

Marcus placing 13th in anything feels so weird, even in a state like Texas. Just goes to show the never-ending success of Marcus! -

Some BIG surprises in finals! Marcus, Cedar Ridge, and Flower Mound were all lower than I anticipated (Marcus by a big amount.) Nonetheless, tonight was equally as surprising in many ways (Woodlands!!!, ) and we'll get to see 13/14 starting on Monday! -

This * infinity! Texas has long been one the most difficult state for any band to compete in, and the last two days have shown that. -

While I wholly disagree with this statement (every single band in finals and the first 20 out are ALL excellent,) I do think BOA should consider reducing the weight that is on GE. DCI's 30-30-40 split is pretty good, and when I applied it to the most recent San Antonio, placements and scores saw relatively small changes -

As is normal, Hebron just blows my mind musically. Visually there were some issues, but it will be clean in finals -

This might be just due to how floored I am over the last two days, but this year’s San Antonio feels like the best ever! -

So far, my ranks would have to be 1. Vista Ridge (This show has grown so much over the season) 2. CEDAR-FREAKING-RIDGE (enough said) 3. Bowie (I really love their sound this year) 4. Dripping Springs (Kaval Sviri is such a great piece) 5. JBA-Westlake (Both were fantastic!) -
2022-23 Area C Predictions?
peshbandkid replied to SaxPapi101's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
I think realignment in the Dallas area (at least for 6A) won't create a big difference. The two most difficult and stacked areas in Texas are in DFW. There are 72 schools in 6A within the metroplex. If there was a third area added, we could maximize the number of schools going to state. -

Jerry's World has pretty bad acoustics to it, although I think having a regional at the Ford Center would be cool -

UIL Area B 2022
peshbandkid replied to SEAstar23's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
While Duncanville does have a name in UIL terms, to make it sound like they only advanced based on that is ignorant. Duncanville worked just as hard as every other finalist band and it's not like SLC and Lake Ridge were miles away. SLC lost a tie-breaker 3-2 and Lake Ridge was 2 points behind them. And for the record, every area has deserving bands that get left out (Area C and Area D) because that's just what happens.
