  1. While Duncanville does have a name in UIL terms, to make it sound like they only advanced based on that is ignorant. Duncanville worked just as hard as every other finalist band and it's not like SLC and Lake Ridge were miles away. SLC lost a tie-breaker 3-2 and Lake Ridge was 2 points behind them. And for the record, every area has deserving bands that get left out (Area C and Area D) because that's just what happens.
  2. I think this is a pretty good starting ground
  3. Plano Senior was one point away from finals ! Also, Plano East's run was WAY worse than I could've imagined, but they'll be back next year!
  4. Seeing L.D. Bell and Duncanville back in state feels comforting. Two of the greatest UIL programs in state history are back!
  5. Looking at this and prelims results, Keller will be interesting to watch. It looks like two judges made a big difference on them, but with them going first it will be interesting to see how L.D. Bell and Duncanville place in relation to Keller.
  6. Results based on @Cornbdhs file 1. Coppell 2. Waxahachie 3. Keller Central 4. Timber Creek 5. Duncanville 6. Keller 7. L.D. Bell 8. James Martin 9. Lake Ridge 10. Lake Highlands 11. Southlake Carroll 12. Berkner ---------------------------- 13. Fossil Ridge 14. Higland Park 15. Haltom 16. J.J Pearce 17. Trinity
  7. After hearing about some of the electronic failures from PESH, I am not surprised to see them miss finals (although extremely dissapointed ) With that being said, this was one of our strongest years since the 2016 state appearance. I am incredibly proud of how much we've grown from last year and I cannot wait to see what they do in the coming years!
  8. Final predictions! 1. Coppell 2. Keller 3. Waxahachie -------------------- 4. L.D. Bell 5. Timber Creek 6. Duncanville 7. Southlake Carroll 8. Lake Ridge 9. Keller Central -------------------- 10. Haltom 11. Highland Park 12. James Martin
  9. Will anybody to be recording this contest?
  10. Area Week Predictions! This is still by far the most difficult Area in 6A and this weekend will interesting to watch! Line breaks represent (in my opinion) the placement tiers that are possible. 1. Hebron 2. Flower Mound 3. Marcus --------------------- 4. Wylie East 5. Prosper 6. Wylie 7. Rock Hill 8. Sachse -------------------- 9. McKinney Boyd 10. Plano East 11. Rockwall 12. Lewisville 13. Rockwall Heath
  11. Even with that judge, Keller will be clean enough to finish in the top 5, likely the top 3. What will be interesting is seeing how the bubble bands place.
  12. While I am extremely biased (can't help itπŸ˜…,) I always had them towards the bottom of finals. With the way they're performing now, I think they could be closer to middle of the pack
  13. It wholly depends on how well the perform since they're the last thing judges see for an hour. A good impression can boost a school while a average one could set them back
  14. Placement at state has significantly less to do with area. In some years, there have been 4/5 placements at area that completely flipped at state
  15. My thoughts exactly. SLC cleaned up a lot from BOA Dallas to Prosper, but I still feel nervous about them
  16. I think what helps Rowlett is being one of the last 6th to last. Heath will go first in the day, which in this Area could be the difference.
  17. Tier Predictions Winning Medals and going to state: Flower Mound, Hebron, Marcus State Bubble: Wylie, Wylie East, Prosper, Rock Hill Since only 6 go onto state, 1 of these schools gets left out. Unsuprisingly, I can't tell you which school will be. (Probably) Safe In Finals: Sachse They've been undeniably strong so far this year and will likely make it in. Finals Bubble: McKinney Boyd, Rockwall, Plano East, Lewisville, Rockwall Heath, ?Rowlett? Here's where the competiton lies. We haven't seen Boyd since WMI where they got 7th, but I am sure they have cleaned up since. Rockwall and Plano East were neck-and-neck at McKinney, and both likely still had much to add. Rowlett beat Heath at Royse City, but I think they both are just a slight step behind the others. Lewisville is the most volatile of the bunch. They beat Plano East and Rockwall by a significant margin at McKinney while trailing only the Wylie schools, which makes me think they are closer to Sachse than the bubble. As mentioned, those groups were incomplete at McKinney, so there is some debate. All I know for certain is that at least 3 state level bands will be left out because of the difficulty of this Area. Same goes for Area B
  18. The earlier bands have to have a very strong performance so that it sticks with the judges. In my senior year, we were first to perform in Area C (with Wylie going second) and made finals by just a point after some 25-30 bands. If you go early and don't impress immediately/dont have your best run, it becomes easier for judges to place several bands ahead. Key Example: 2015 BOA Grand National Finals. Hebron (coming off a first place finish in semis) goes second of all bands ad they go to third place.
  19. Performing early means more time for you to be passed up. For a school like Keller or Southlake Carroll, it has significantly less an effect. For a bubble band, early performance times can be all the difference between a possible state appearances and a near miss
  20. LOTS of confidence in SLC! Unfortunately, I still have a great deal of reservations in them. Feeling more 4-7 range
