Wow! No Aledo or SLC, in comes James Martin and Rock Hill. Also, Keller in the bottom half! DFW continues to be a gauntlet -

SLC has stepped up the theming 100%! At first I worried if it was too much, but I think they made all the props and tarps work well visually! -

What a beautiful showing from Waxahachie! Very luscious sound and a good amount of drill for them. They look well ahead of the curve from last season! -

Wow Trinity! That sound was just great! If I had the ability to, this show would be on the verge of finals! -
2022 BOA San Antonio (Nov. 4 & 5)
peshbandkid replied to LeanderMomma's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Evidence once again that BOA San Antonio is still the deepest contest in the country. I think it was 2017 when Avon came and placed 4th, which was their lowest ever finish at any contest in the 2010s. -
I personally don't think HP will advance to state this year. They have proven themselves very well in the last few seasons, but the depth and difficulty of 6A Area B is practically unmatched. I definitely expect to see them in finals, but they would then have to beat out one of Coppell, Keller, Waxahachie, Southlake Carroll, and Timber Creek (last years area advancers,) not to mention the rise of Lake Ridge and the (hopeful) return of L.D. Bell. Highland Park will get there, but I think it's still a round out.

To me, this competiton is WAY more difficult to predict than BOA Dallas because so many of the bands here are on the same level! If I had to make predictions, here's what I'm thinking... 1-3: Wakeland, Prosper, Westlake 4-5: Southlake Carroll, Waxahchie 6-10: Westwood, Keller Central, Wylie East, Colleyville Heritage, Owasso Finals Bubble: Forney, Burleson Centennial, Rock Hill, Berkner, Rockwall, Sachse Looking at the contests this past weekend (Wylie, HEB, Mesquite, etc.,) I think Wakeland could win this one. The most difficult part of placing these schools is how little footage there's been this year in my opinion. Obviously after BOA Dallas, these tiers will change since some of these groups will compete at both. EDIT: I completely left out Wylie East, so they move into the 6-10 range and push Burleson Centennial into the Finals Bubble. This contest is incredibly stacked... EDIT 2: I ALSO completely left out Forney. They will join the finals bubble and unfortunately push The Colony out. I love The Colony, but just looking at how INCREDIBLY STACKED this competition is, it's hard to see them push through such a tough grouping. -

Based on the past weekend results, I could see tiers 1-2: Hebron, Flower Mound Both schools sound fantastic early on and visually they are both doing extremely well! I do give a slight nod to Hebron based on the visual demand I've seen from them, but Flower Mound has won this contest the last three years it was held. 3: Marcus Although Wakeland did beat them in prelims at HEB, I think that Marcus will push ahead and retain 3rd place in this contest. 4-6: Wakeland, Coppell, Keller Wakeland!!! HUGE showing at HEB! I personally would put them slightly ahead of Coppell and Keller, but I think both bands will imporve a lot this week and will challenge for a top 4 finish 7-10: Timber Creek, L.D. Bell, Waxahachie, Southlake Carroll I haven't seen any of these bands but based off of recent history and momentum I feel comfortable making this tier. I would place Timber Creek and L.D. Bell towards the top of the group, but this season has been unexpected as far as predictions go! 11-15: Lone Star, Aledo, Rock Hill, James Martin, Highland Park Another group where I have not seen a lot of footage from these groups, but this is where I think the finals bubble is. Lone Star and Aledo were finalists last year and will likely take it, but I think it will be interesting to see how Rock Hill and Highland Park compete in a BOA contest Predictions are hard -

The JV contest for the Plano schools is held on the same day, just earlier in the morning. No error is here!
