  1. Love Churchill, but we've seen them put up pleasantly high scores and then mysteriously drop off for the rest of the season. I think Dripping Springs has the advantage given they're preparing like never before for nationals. I would also avoid calling any band outright "better" in that tone. All in all I think Churchill can make top-half here, but really it'll be up to how much each band manages to clean by then.
  2. Surprisingly enough Copperas Cove seems to be on the up and up, it'll be very difficult for them to final and I sadly doubt that they will but I do believe that they can get close.
  3. It's tough. I'm in the camp we won't have any new SA finalists but you never know. (Wakeland has made it in before right? I'm not sure but I imagine they have in the early 2010's late 2000's?). Timber Creek could break in and I have them as the most likely to out of the group of bands that have never made SA finals before.
  4. It is just such an odd decision to me. Especially after they already took a heavy trip a few weeks prior to Midland. Two trips of this size seem a bit much for any program.
  5. A little slower than usual, but they’ve always been a late-season band.
  6. Dripping Springs is looking in their best shape since 2017. Really interested to see how they progress.
  7. Yes, I mistyped. I meant 4x I guess I didn’t see that my finger slipped from the 3 to the 4.
  8. I don’t think they’ll be close to beating Glenn.
  9. I’m still confused why Hendrickson drove out here instead of just stopping by the Texas Marching Classic.
  10. I would hardly call Cedar Park a dark horse to win state. They’re defending a 3x title and somehow they always pull it off at the very last minute no matter what. They’re in my opinion the safest bet for the state title right now.
  11. Keller has me a little worried. It wouldn’t be a BOA season without Keller keeping me nervous until the very last minute though. I am here for this potential L.D. Bell resurgence though…they’ve been due for another shot at the spotlight for a while now.
  12. Well played to Vandegrift. Dripping Springs is making a case for national finals with the scores they’re putting up.
  13. 12 - Georgetown - 72.15 11 - Louis D. Brandeis 75.775 10 - Moe and Gene Johnson 77.55 9 - Leander 80.625 8 - Westlake 81.188 7 - Dripping Springs 81.45 6 - McNeil 82.938 5 - Lake Travis 85.05 (these score gaps are no joke wow) 4 - Round Rock 85.5 3 - Cedar Park 88.775 2 - Rouse - 88.95 1 - Vandy - 91.20 Percussion - Vandy Auxiliary - Vandy Music - Vandy Visual - Vandy GE - Vandy
  14. 4 state qualifiers is awesome. That gives room for Glenn to advance which is something that will really boost that program.
  15. Very excited for this regional. Cedar Ridge does a phenomenal job at hosting. I think we forget how outstandingly this invitational is hosted on the technical side. It’s a professional job. I’m always excited to attend.
  16. Congratulations to Churchill as well. They’ve had a rough few years but you can always tell they keep fighting the good fight . McNeil impressing as well.
  17. Taft is looking prime for a spot in area H finals. I’m excited for them.
  18. CTJ in sixth…. I had seen clips and I think my initial predictions were correct. Post-Lipman it’s going to be difficult. On happier notes it’s good to see The Woodlands with dominance out of the gate, I think they’re contending for an eagle this year despite nobody quite talking about them being in contention.
  19. I had Pearland above CTJ. I think it was a safe prediction.
  20. Vista Ridge always starts a little slower. They always catch up by the time San Antonio rolls around (barring the off-year of 2021). They really come into their own in the later season. This isn’t new either, they’re one of the handful of bands to miss Austin finals then make San Antonio finals (2014).
  21. Great show! These bands have two months to clean, clean and clean!
  22. I believe their rumored nats trip on Hornrank was debunked sadly.
  23. To be fair most of their shows have been very straightforward in the past (at least since 2014), I think it’s only recently they’ve stepped out of the box a little more. They filled a really nice niche of straightforward classical shows, but this new direction seems really fun and promising. Especially after Into The Grid which was a show nobody expected from them.
  24. You seem weirdly pressed. I think you’re lost. Nothing in the comment you were replying to warranted *that* response. It was a little ignorant of the situation The Woodlands is in, given starting a third guard is hefty work they don’t have the privilege to do at the moment but nothing super critical. I’m sure that comment you mentioned had no malice to it. It’s just a joking reference to the fact that TWHS very often places 4th, from CG to marching band that just seems their unfortunate fate. 4th place at the SA Super has also won the UIL SMBC gold thrice now…so not a bad place to be at all historically at least for marching band. Do not like unnecessarily snarky replies to mundane comments, so I thought I’d come out and say this. Constructive critique is not hating, interpreting as such tells more about your personal character than others.
  25. Can The Woodlands take scholastic world gold this year? As an uneducated guard person. I’m asking
