  1. Timing leniency has always existed for the state contest. Having watched state contests since 2015 there are more than 10~ or so bands I can remember “going over” but not being penalized. This applies 1A - 6A. UIL has always been stricter for region and area, for whatever their reasons may be. This is not a special circumstance granted to Waxahachie. It just represents the continued trend of leniency at the state contest. Don’t ask me why it’s like this, that’s just the trends and how it’s been.
  2. A bands effort is not devalued simply because you’re “tired” of seeing them in finals. They’re there for a reason. Fix your attitude.
  3. A lot can (and will) change between today and tomorrow.
  4. 2020, technically there wasn’t finals but the top twelve bands from prelims were considered the “finalists”. Bridgeland was 12th.
  5. We'll have people live-posting results as we receive them :). If I see nothings getting posted I'll do my best to hop to it.
  6. We have a packed block coming up. Hard to claim or say anything without seeing what they're putting up first.
  7. We also receive the schedule during the finals announcement. Unlike BOA, UIL doesn't announce finalists in random order but in performance order. This does make it so the more surprising finalists are announced first, and names like Vandegrift, Hebron and other top seven mainstays are announced in the back half.
  8. Missed Flower Mound :/. Will see how they're doing in finals.
  9. I am living for the coincidence of the Marcus and L.D. Bell resurgence.
  10. Marcus really wants a medal and they might get it.
  11. Bridgeland looked really great! Might just be me but that closer had some visible visual dirt, not sure. Music sounded strong though.
  12. I think it was a tear but it’s a very difficult piece and they did a very good job with it regardless.
  13. PSJA was outstanding. Love to see a program from the valley succeeding. I remember seeing PSJA North at state in 2018 I believe? Really good stuff from the schools in that area.
  14. Now there’s a show you want to be taking to nationals. The Woodlands is a class act as always.
  15. The top view from Vista Ridge is amazing. If they clean up some of those dirtier moments those formations are going to net some really nice VGE points.
  16. We are three seasons now where people forget about Vista Ridge and then they show up at the end of the season and just kill it.
  17. I think Keller was over the shot clock by a few seconds in prelims one or two years ago. Didn’t really affect them. Not sure.
  18. Right now I have Wakeland above Rouse, but honestly it’s a tight race. And if history has shown anything it’s that Cedar Park are the kings of leaving it all on the field for 5A finals. I’m not counting them out yet.
  19. Reagan’s show theme gives the benefit of the doubt to some of the “cleanliness” issues as they seem to be intentional design choices. I think they’re pretty solidly a finalist but I’m having a hard time as an untrained judge seeing how the judges will choose to interpret their show altogether.
  20. I love Cypress Falls but I have to agree. Man that program was on the ups only a few years ago, San Antonio finals and promising placements. Really scratching my head to what happened.
  21. Can you cut it out, you're creating a very bad impression for your program.
