sop153063 got a reaction from RebelPercMom in BOA Houston 2019
Richland's shows definitely have a cool vibe, with this last year having some jazz in it. I'd like to see them get some love in the next year!

I kind of think Keller will beat all 3 of them and snag their first regional title

Does seem like an odd move though. My guess (hope?) is that they've thought "alright, we made a huge leap largely due to a once in a generation kind of 'universally loved by all' show design. But if we want to stay in this echelon, we're gonna have to take the next step in pushing the envelope." Because, as has been pointed out, VR by no means had the most difficult show in the state (not taking away anything of course. I've expressed my love for the show plenty), and have generally been pretty conservative. Similar to how the dance team integration was fantastic a few years ago, but they made the switch back to color guard as an investment in the future, I see this as a similar move. Can't wait to see what they show up with next year.

To be fair, their show very much resembled Boston Crusaders. Most of that staff also worked for them. If someone just gave me a show originally intended for a drum corps but toned down a bit I don't know how I'd feel.
On the other hand, that was an incredible show. We'll see.

We also have a confirmation that Vista Murrieta from California will be making the trip, rooting for them to make finals!
But that makes 2 confirmed out of state bands so far, do you think we could see anymore?

Sounds like a great opportunity for a social media campaign to invite them. Dare them. Call them out. Whatever works.

I have heard that Westlake is attending BOA Houston for the first time next year. Given a strong season and reclaiming a BOA super regional finalist spot last year, I think they could have great success at this contest!

I would agree with them, sending a band to a larger contest (especially a BOA Regional) is the better choice for exposure. And if the Austin powerhouses can't compete that opens up the contention for finals spots a bit!

Yes we (John Horn) have it, it will be the first time we will be participating in any BOA competitions!

Of course Rouse can win. So can many other groups. Nothing is impossible and I love that Vista reminded us of that.
Be teachable. Take criticism and move on. Practice like you’ve never won. Perform like you’ve never lost. Do it every time. If you want to win, make every rep count. My kid performs every rep like it is a state championship. I’m not exaggerating this, she really does. It doesn’t matter what the other team is doing. It only matters what you do and what you leave on the field. And that everyone else in your group does the same to the best of their ability. If they aren’t, take the time to help get them there.
I hope 2019 has some fun and exciting things happen, I am sure plenty of groups are absolutely ready to make a dent in the medal standings. Both those that have been there before and those that are new and I think it will be fun to see how it all shakes out!

With schools like Waxahachie and Prosper now in 6A, they definitely have a good shot at at least a medal

Round Rock, Hendrickson, John Horn, and North Mesquite all have Waco on their public calendars.

The thing I'm most curious about is the attendance for Waco, being on the biggest region day in the state. We really won't know who will be attending until region dates are released.

We must have watched a different Vista Ridge, because that show is non-stop marching. It might be a little park and bark, but the movement is there.

Exactly. This needs to happen. It’ll elimate one “I didn’t like that” opinion from the the queue.

I know a few people already touched on this, but I am so upset with J5. I’m not a huge fan of Round Rock (go CR!!) but wow. They were Round Robbed tonight.
