  1. Performance list has been updated! This competition keeps getting stronger every year! If you are around town that day please consider coming out to watch!
  2. Yeah. I had to sit out during the stadium rehearsal we had last night, and it was really awesome to watch. Side note - watch out for the madison band this year, we are doing something special what I saw was special - for us.
  3. Our new uniform is really cool - and very versatile
  4. Good Morning Vietnam! IIIIITTTTTSSSS A SHOW DAY!!!! I won't be on flomarching but I'll be on the live blog (commenting too) for as long as I can!
  5. I swear this website would break if the top six in finals were all Texas bands. it's only just a dream though.
  6. I knew that Avon would use Little Fugue in G Minor at some point. I mean, they ARE taught by the one and only Matt Harloff. Because Harloff really knows the nuances of that piece (thank you Carolina Crown!) I expect nothing less than picture perfect performances of that piece from Avon no matter what.
  7. Dang I hear so much Drum Corps in Hebron's show! Who is their designer?!! They actually sound like a drum corps too! The last few years they still had a characteristic high school band sound and music design, but not this year!
  8. Sorry I haven't gotten to get a chance to get on over the weekend, but we had an AMAZING first performance run of our show! To sound and look that good this early in the season is awesome for us! I'm so excited for the season that we have ahead of us! Granted, we didn't perform our entire first movement due to time restrictions, but that will come this Thursday -- and on live TV. This Thursday we are looking to debut our full uniform and I'm so happy you get to see it. I hope all of you (at least those who live in the San Antonio area) get to see the performance this week! Hope the link posts. The post is public so I shouldn't get in trouble. I never did last year, anyways. By the way -- there are no electronics in this performance, so therefore the woodwinds ARE NOT mic'ed.
  9. Can somebody please send me the link to this Leander video? I can't seem to find it on da tube.
  10. IT'S SHOW DAY!!! I can't wait to perform tonight! We are doing the fun show(again) AND part of our first movement on the field tonight and I can't wait! It's gonna be a blast! We are playing JBOPE so if any of you want to watch the game tonight it is at Jerry Comalander stadium in San Antonio. The game starts at 7:30 PM so please (if you can) come out and watch two great programs perform!
  11. HOLY WOW DOES KELLER LOOK AND SOUND AMAZING! I just watched that video right now and my jaw was to the floor when I heard how clean that triple tonguing was already this early in the season. The depth in their sound is just amazing for this time of the year. This is going to be one heck of a season to watch!
  12. We have Thursday night lights next week and I’m so excited because we might be on live tv here in San Antonio.
  13. ITS GAME DAY!!! Can't wait to perform tonight, although we are not performing our UIL show tonight. We are, however, performing what we call the "Fun Show" where everybody in the band has a spot on the field to march in. That is nearly 350 of us this year!!! We are performing Fireball. We even have a visual section in it too! Everybody have a great show day/night!
  14. This isn't for Texas (yet), but please send prayers for those in the path of Hurricane Dorian. It's forecast to make landfall somewhere along the coast of Florida/Southern Georgia as a high end Category 3 hurricane but I have the sneaking suspicion that some rapid intensification is going to occur especially with how warm the waters are this year with it being such a quiet hurricane season. If the system makes it all the way through Florida it could restrengthen in the Gulf of Mexico where the waters are even warmer. This is starting to remind me a lot of Hurricane Katrina right now and that's what has me worried.

  16. I saw the preview video for the Brandeis show, and let me say I am pleasantly surprised. They are doing great things over there this year, that's for sure.
  17. Hello ther! I'm back from the dead... for now. I have a really busy school schedule this year and I've wanted to keep some things quiet for a while and wait for the right time to tell you all. I hope y'all are ready for a great season of Marching Band across the nation! So, first thing first, you are going to see a completely different Madison Band this year. For one thing, we have some AWESOME new uniforms this year (that are so flexible -- as in interchangeable -- by the way. We won't even be wearing the full uniform this Friday ) and they are so different you likely won't recognize us right away when you see us. Next, we are under the new Head Direction of Mr. Wesley Perkins as our former head director was promoted to the District's Director of Fine Arts this summer, and the new assistant director to replace Mr. Flynn is Mr. Jaime Ramos, a former co-worker of Mr. Perkins when he used to work at Sandra Day O'Connor HS. Don't worry, we are DEFINITELY moving in the right direction with our new leadership. We are so happy with our new team to lead us. Next, we are doing some things a little differently that I think you'll notice when we perform soon, so I'll leave that at that. From what I can tell, we are set up to have an amazing season, but I don't want to jinx anything like I did two years ago, so I won't get my hopes up. Things are just different about this year though. Be sure to tune in to the NEISD Fall Festival on October first if you want to see the new and improved Madison Mighty Maverick Marching Band. Last thing, as I've mentioned before, our show is entitled "Under Construction," and I think it's safe for me to release the repertoire now, so here it is: Primacy of Numbers - Philip Glass, Hymn to the Sun with the Beat of the Mother Earth - Yagasawa, Enter the Galaxy - Paul Lovatt-Cooper Thank you for taking the time to read this post!
  18. It rained right before our "Meet the Mavs" night so it was extra humid and the field was wet the whole night, We had to sit on wet turf for an hour and a half.
  19. Yeah that is the abbreviation of their name. I wonder who Vandy is the closest to. I see Reagan as the closest to the Blue Knights in terms of style for some reason. They are always the silent but deadly groups. They consistently put out great esoteric designs with one or two word show names and always have a great hornline, but you see them as one of the most humble groups because they never say anything and never do anything wrong.
  20. I would compare TWHS to BAC because they always have a really compelling visual package and consistently have a really great hornline.
  21. Our camp starts on Monday! I can't wait, it's going to be another great season of High School marching band... and sadly my last. Can't wait to see what this season has in store for me!
  22. Crown's show makes sense to me, but I can't explain it. The video interviews that klesch and saktig have been in have explained a lot of things that go on in the show too.
  23. Oh it was definitely awesome to meet you FloMoParent! And don't worry, I understand! To be honest the group that surprised me the most was Phantom Regiment. They were the first group that had a lot of WOW moments for me, and it was even better getting to see my friend marching with them down there. He just so happens to be the 2nd baritone player on the lead part, which I think is AWESOME! I was floored from Cavies on... I loved the guy on stilts and the running man in Boston's show.' Crown and Bloo had by far the most crisp sounds of the entire night. You could not only hear but almost literally see right through their sound, and THOSE CHORDS!!! The releases rang through the entire stadium. It was awesome hearing all of the guard catches in the last six shows too. All in all this was one of the best nights of my life, and the fun continued to the next day when I spent the day on a Jet-ski and boat turning into a lobster. I hurt (a lot) right now, but it was all worth it!
  24. Wow the colts are on to something! Really great show guys!
