Hey there! I'm from Nebraska, by the way! I was born in Omaha, my mother was born in Omaha, and my grand-parents have lived there for nearly their entire lives. A good friend of mine in our band has a brother who's a freshmen at UNL currenlty -- he was the valedictorian of his class. Nebraska is such a beautiful state, and the people there are so amazing! By the way, they are the most dedicated football fans in the nation......by far. They have sold out every single game for nearly 60 years (57 and counting, and 371 consecutive games), and that's with every expansion of the seating of the stadium since then. The stadium current;y seats about 86000 seats but the stadium is consistently filled with more than 90000 people. Go Big Red!!! By the way, Bellvue West HS (the suburb of Omaha that my grandfather lives in) is a powerhouse band that has come very near finals at Grand Nationals and is a consistent semi-finals band. That's pretty cool if you ask me!

Care to help me with my college physics? That stuff is hard!!! (this is coming from someone who wants to major in field that is physics heavy).

I don't think you'll have to worry about that system at all. This cold front will pick that system up and drive it east with no threat to the Texas coast. Don't worry.

Hello there!
-
Yeah but we perform on friday and will likely be pretty far out of reach of finals (for now ) If you find some way to get your directors to rehearse on our band lot like some other bands do, then we can meet then!
-
Yay! First "cold" front of the season scheduled for monday! Drops temps to a meagerly 82 for now. haven't seen past, so temps may go a little lower. FUN!
-
Oh cool Guess I didn't miss much XD

That's really cool! Y'all have such a great program! One of the assistant directors at one of our feeder middle schools is a trombone player from Marcus who just so happened to go to the college that I want to go to. I also met one of your former drum majors. Both of them are really nice people!

If I may ask, who are you talking about? I don't remember anyone calling out their band director. If you are speaking metaphorically, then never mind - I completely understand what you mean.

Man this south texas heat is unrelenting. San Antonio set another record high yesterday at 97 degrees and we are projected to tie or set another record today. We aren't expecting to get our first fall cold front of the year until next monday at the earliest, if it even makes it down here at all. Temps expected to hover in the mid 90's all week. Stay hydrated out there people.

Oh I just remembered that (if I heard correctly) they now have 2 marching bands. They audition marchers now given the size of their program.

I don't know if you are allowed to say, but what school do you go to? I try to be respectful anyways. It's just how I was raised. Sometimes things don't come across the right way no matter how hard you try though, both physically and digitally. That's where my constant apologizing comes from in some of my posts. An example would be the post that I just made in the US Bands Yamaha Cup thread. I had some doubt that what I wanted to say would come across the right way, so I over emphasized the fact that I was NOT trying to make anybody mad or meant anything wrong. My band directors aren't as strict about that stuff. In fact, we aren't very secretive at all. Its pretty easy to find videos of our program in the last few years on the internet.

2019 BOA San Antonio
MadisonBandMan1 replied to CTJBandPops's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Now it's not only the fact that they have too many bands signed up that's a factor in making that sort of decision, but its also the difficulty in differentiating between these programs because they are just so close to each-other. It'll be nearly impossible to judge this competition. -
That's true but our varsity skipped finals this year so our large upperclassmen group could have their only chance to go to prom. This is nothing against warren's group, I'm just trying to say that warren doesn't have that caption in the bag against us. If I remember correctly we won that caption in finals last year against an amazing John. B. Alexander group who was 4 points ahead of us in prelims and finished the year 12 places or so ahead of us at BOA San Antonio. Not saying that we will win that caption again, I am just highly confident in our guard. They are on a roll this year from what I've seen. Warren's band is great. At one point in time I was zoned for Warren and in fact lived within walking distance of campus. I went to Evers Elementary for two years -- let's just say I've moved a lot. I don't mean to make anyone mad with this post -- just trying to have a friendly discussion. I'm a trombone player, and if I remember correctly, my sophomore and junior years they had a trombone player advance to state, and iI remember them singling this guy out during halftime when we met them in the first round of playoffs last year. It was really cool. It was also cool getting to watch them perform their UIL still even though both of our seasons had already ended. I know the placements between at least us two will be very close -- Warren placed just two places below us at the super regional last year. Depending on the improvements of our bands we could even be much closer or even better than JBA. Who knows. These things are completely(Almost) subjective anyways. I'm definitely excited for this first competition of the season, as it sets the stage for what our season is to come.

I meant CTJ. I think you are thinking of the wrong school.
