  1. Me too! I'm bummed they won't be at State or BOA! Next year I'm going to be sure I see them somehow.
  2. Thank you for those prayers! Its been something else around here. Yesterday was beautiful but the grey skies and impending rain are back. The boil notice is really just a precaution though the media would have you believe we all are dying of dysentery down here. Leander and Cedar Park are safe for now, but the Vandegrift area is also on boil notice. We are ready for an end to this mess for sure! Saturday is looking beautiful however.
  3. Ugh, I didn't think of that. Well, Music Travel Consultants can get enough airplanes chartered for your band, and y'all could plan a show with no props. I'm just thinking of how stunned folks in Lucas Oil Stadium would be when you guys took the field.
  4. You guys should go to BOA Grand Nats. It would blow everyone’s mind outside of Texas.
  5. I mean are you truly all in, or is it just talk? Here’s my nerd story for the week. (I have so many, I could do a weekly storytime on the subject ). So, as many of you may recall, my car was totaled back in August when my baby girl was involved in a high speed, 4 car collision on Mopac. (Fortunately she was found completely not at fault, nor was she injured other than some general soreness). Anyway, I quickly went on the hunt for a replacement car and completely and utterly fell in love with a georgous crystal white Subaru Legacy which I have affectionately named Pearl. Since then, I have been driving around with temporary license plates, not so patiently waiting for my new permanent plates to come in. Well they finally did so, and I drove down to Austin Subaru to pick them up last Thursday, and you might say that I got a little excited when I saw that they started with LHS! I may or may not have squealed as the car guy very nicely put them on for me (in the rain, no less), and I possibly did a happy dance in the parking lot as I cried, “This was meant to be for me!” The car guy gave me a hesitant smile as I’m sure he was thinking I’m a little nutty, but I didn’t care. I was just SO excited to have my new car holler out my love for a certain high school that I care very deeply for. Now if only those last 4 numbers on my plate after the ~ symbol had spelled out BAND, my life would have been complete.
  6. I love that it's called Region X. I don't know why.
  7. I love it when the Vandy brass cranks out those huge long notes at the beginning of their show. Pure bliss! Vista is definitely on the rise (ha, no offense to Vandegrift). Wonderful show this year! Leander is cooking for sure this year, but I never know where to place them so I usually don't even try. And we really haven't even seen anyone else other than CTJ and Cedar Park due to Raintember and Raintober, so I just honestly don't have a clue!! I have missed seeing the DFW area bands shine this year, and the Woodlands as well. It's just been crazy and I think very few of us truly know what to expect at BOA SA this year. Too many unknowns!!
  8. Hopefully the sun will SHINE, SHINE, SHINE on Saturday! And everyone (understandably who isn't a chaperone) will stay for every band. I plan to be there nice and early and stay all day. Who's with me?!!!!
  9. You are very fortunate because 1) you are associated with a Texas band, and 2) you found absolutely the BEST band forum in the world and I mean that from the bottom of my heart!
  10. I completely understand! My older 2 daughters were not in band either. In fact my middle daughter was quite a gifted athlete and she played baseball and then softball from age 6 thru college. She also played volleyball in middle school, high school and college so we were 100% a sports family. Her select team schedule kept us hopping, and we traveled all over the place. We would eat and breathe softball and i have incredible memories of what a wonderful time in our lives all that was. Then my baby girl, who is 8 and 10 years younger than her sisters, took a completely different path, and we absolutely had no inkling what we were in for! Granted I came from a musical and band background ( flute, colorguard and choir), so I was at least knowledgeable about band, but I truly had ZERO idea what high school marching band was all about, especially in Texas and Leander ISD. So just know that we were all there once, and you WILL figure it out (for the most part )...and just sit back and enjoy the ride!!
  11. I loved it too! I hate that we only have 3 spots for state in our Area.
  12. Indeed. Leander has MAD respect for Vista Ridge! We were all screaming and applauding like mad yesterday after their performance at UIL.
  13. Yes I noticed that too! I was waiting for it, and then it didn’t happen. So disappointing. Darn Lakotians.
  14. Bowie’s huge rainbow flags are ours from last year as well. And Lakota East performed our entire 2014 Color Study show at Indianapolis this weekend. The props and flags were a tiny bit different but very very similar. Even the color guard costumes were similar. It is definitely interesting and always flattering!
  15. Such a shame the bands have not performed much this year. It’s definitely been a bit of a downer season because of it. I feel like I’ve hardly seen anyone except the Leander ISD bands!
  16. I love your “lostbandmom” nick.
  17. You know, it really is exciting! No one can predict with any real accuracy who will even medal this year. It’s crazy and it’s fun.
  18. I just figured if it was true, it was because of the length of it, that’s all.
  19. Yes and our music too. It was pretty much Leander 2014 reincarnated.
  20. Hey...did you happen to notice anything “interesting” about Lakota East’s show?
  21. Hahahaha. My iPad is telling me that’s in French, Daniel. It’s offering to translate it to English for me.
  22. Westlake went over by a hair at our regional today. Not sure how much it hurt them.
